I was recently in japan and I feel deeply grateful for the opportunity to travel and escape the daily grind. New experiences while immersed in a different culture. I was amazed.
Here are few things I took notes while i was in japan:
- Respect for personal space and well being is a priority. Even in big cities like Tokyo and kyoto, the streets are relatively quiet. You rarely hear honking and horns, no one would dare to have a loud mobile phone conversation in public place. No one speaks loudly. It's so nice.
- The customer is everything. Japan's high standard for customer service never failed to amaze me.
- They queue up for almost everything apparently it is a reflection of the cultural emphasis on order, harmony, and respect for others, a practice deeply ingrained from childhood. Queuing is seen as a polite, orderly, and fair process, and while it can involve long waits, especially at popular restaurants or for limited-edition items, it is generally accepted without complaint.
What things you have learned from travel that influence how you work or see the world?
