Due to a nationwide internet outage affecting the southern region, our office systems are currently unavailable.

🎉 The MED Design team is proud to celebrate Ayrton Caruana, a valued member of our engineering team, who recently presented his research at the Transport Research Arena (TRA) 2026 conference in Budapest.

His study, entitled “Evaluating Road Closures and Traffic Calming Measures Near Primary Schools in Malta” explores traffic conditions and road safety challenges around primary schools, with a focus on improving pedestrian safety and reducing congestion in school zones.

A paper based on his dissertation was also accepted and published in the conference proceedings, marking an important academic achievement.

🎉 The MED Design team is proud to celebrate Karl Farrugia, a valued member of our architecture team whose Master’s thesis project, “Balluta Bay – connecting land and water,” received the Outstanding Student Project Award 2024 at the MASP Awards.

The project proposes a sustainable and thoughtfully designed solution for Balluta Bay, addressing challenges like limited green spaces, pedestrian access, and coastal erosion, while integrating sustainable development, urban planning, and ecological restoration.

Karl was also recently invited to the University of Malta to present his project to current Master’s students, sharing his design process and insights to inspire the next generation of architects.
