From vision to reality, a behind-the-scenes look at our work as Project Architects 🎬

The making of Skatepark & Ġnien Tony Bezzina 🛹🌳, a project we have been leading since 2021, from design and tendering to project management.

Transforming a derelict site in Paola into a vibrant community hub required careful planning and coordination. From Malta’s first professionally certified skatepark, to landscaped gardens, play areas, and the careful integration of a WWII shelter, every step reflects our commitment to creating a space for everyone in the community.

Skatepark & Ġnien Tony Bezzina are now officially open! 🛹🌳

As Project Architects, we are proud to have been entrusted with the design, tendering, and project management of this urban regeneration project, which we have been developing since 2021.

What was once a derelict site in Paola has been transformed into a vibrant community space located along a key axis between MCAST and surrounding residential areas. From the start, our design focused on creating a balanced space for different users and ages.

At the heart of the project is Malta’s first professionally certified skatepark 🛹, with a dedicated spectator area for teens and young adults. This is complemented by a landscaped garden 🌿 with shaded seating, and a play area for younger children 🛝, creating a place for everyone in the community.

In 2023, the project expanded to include a green corridor 🌱, strengthening access and reinforcing the site as an urban node. During works, a WWII shelter was discovered beneath the site and carefully integrated into the design with a new public entrance, allowing this historic space to be experienced by the community.

🌳 3,000+ sqm site
🌳 46 new trees planted
🌿 600+ plants introduced
🌳 60+ year mature trees retained
♻️ Recycled materials used
💧 Rainwater harvesting reservoir for irrigation
☀️ PV panels on canopies generating electricity
♿ Accessible design for all

The project is proudly named in memory of Paola legend Tony Bezzina.
