One of the destinations will be the 𝗕𝗮𝗯ī𝘁𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝘂𝗯: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗞𝗢𝗞𝗜 𝗩𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗲 — an opportunity to experience landscape architecture through place, practice and conversation.

Stockholm’s new Slussen transforms a former traffic-dominated junction into a vibrant civic landscape where water, movement, public life and design come together.
Led by White Arkitekter and Foster + Partners, the redevelopment introduces new pedestrian and cycling routes, parks, public squares and improved connections between Södermalm and Gamla stan.
Streetlife contributed to this transformation with site-specific street furniture designed to respond to Slussen’s unique urban and waterside character.
At Vattentorget, generous seating areas are carefully positioned to maximise sunlight and views across the water. Adapted Highlife seating in Accoya wood creates places to pause, relax and experience the surrounding waterscape, while the square has also become an informal summer gathering place for music, socialising and spontaneous activity.
Nearby, Södermalmstorg and the terraced Mälartrappan connect the waterfront with Södermalm across a 12-metre level difference. Integrated Streetlife seating, planting and flexible public space support both everyday use and larger gatherings, while preserving important views across Lake Mälaren, Saltsjön and the Old Town.

Together, these spaces show how thoughtful landscape architecture and well-integrated street furniture can reconnect a city with its waterfront, strengthen public life and create places where people genuinely want to stay. 🌿
