Catch The Rabbit

In the freshest street-food restaurant in town, BITE ME, we introduce the latest OPIECE lamp series - Catch The Rabbit.

The collection brings together glass and metal sculptures by Edgars Spridzāns in the form of lighting objects. Once illuminated, they cast colourful rays of light. In Latvian, we often call this phenomenon " saules zaķis," literally translated as “sun rabbit”. Hence the name.

Each lamp is different, composed of unique cuts of metal and glass, and should therefore be conceived as an individual art piece.

BITE ME is BACK

Settling into a corner long associated with the Riga's bar culture, BITE ME exists somewhere between a community-driven street-food spot and a refined restaurant.

The interior is shaped by the same sense of balance, combining bespoke elements and commissioned art with affordable, low-budget solutions.

The space is arranged around a main dining area and bar, complemented by a secluded event room and a terrace overlooking the river Daugava. Spruce plywood, galvanized steel, polycarbonate, and PVC elements come together to create a playful and authentic feel.

Craftsmanship, a guiding principle for the BITE ME team, led by chef Kristaps Reimanis, is also central to the interior design, while the yellow-and-purple color palette was inspired by the graphic identity of this street food restaurant.

It was a pleasure working together with all co-owners of this place: Kristaps Reimanis, Katrina Jaunupe, Edgars Jaunups and Karlis Arnolds Avots. Although Liga Matisa is not involved in the current chapter, her contribution remains an important part of the story.

In AUGUST, architecture and interior follow the same narrative.

Each apartment features a large balcony that not only reinforces connection to nature and provides privacy, but also shapes the building’s architectural identity.

The kitchen forms the focal point of the home, with a deep red island interpreted as its “heart” - a symbolic reference to the hearth as the centre of family life.

Natural materials define the interior. Wood is used throughout, from the public spaces to the private apartments. Estonian dolomite, naturally oxidized copper details and mirror elements appear in the project as a unifying accents all throughout.

The ceramic material used on the façade also appears throughout the apartments - in kitchen and bathroom - where its texture is reinterpreted in a more expressive pattern than on the exterior.

How we erase the boundaries between indoors and out at EYWA

Each EYWA apartment features a vast balcony, designed as an extension of the living room. The large glass surface area creates uninterrupted views, with floor-to-ceiling sliding doors enhancing natural light. Deep overhangs provide protection from the midday heat, while structural columns that support the building also anchor suspended, nest-like reading spots here.

Architecture and interior speak the same language through the senses: natural wood, raw stone, soft textiles, and polished brass shape the tactile atmosphere, while curated soundscapes, aromas, and video projections create immersive experiences to shift the state of mind.

This is our second time working with the creative agency Inspired

Fifteen years ago, our collaboration resulted in a workspace that proved as lasting and daring as the partnership itself.

The office is designed as an open-plan workplace, where various materials unite in a playful manner. Concrete, h**p, and vinyl define the interior surfaces, complemented by plywood cabinetry and furniture, stainless steel details, and holographic curtains that conceal storage areas. The concept is built around making purposeful use of available resources and revealing the interior’s original structural elements.

One of the interior's defining features is a custom 'cloud' vinyl tile floor - it adds a playful character and reflects client’s ability to rise above the clouds to see the bigger picture. DIY solutions define the interior, seen in a wooden kiosk decorated with rope and lashing straps.

KGSTRO is a digestive health clinic designed through the lens of spatial psychology.

Environments have a deep impact on people’s cognitive functions, emotions, and social interactions. By engaging the senses and adjusting spatial layouts, architecture and design can reduce stress, encourage relaxation, and support mental and physical recovery. Guided by the psychology of space, KGSTRO was shaped into a clinic where both visitors and staff can feel at ease. From monochrome color palette to rounded forms and hidden lights, these elements help soothe the nervous system within a stressful environment.

The layout supports an uninterrupted workflow for staff and transforms the visitor experience into a fluid journey from arrival to treatment. Curtains enable a flexible layout that can be reconfigured as needed, while adding warmth and softness.

LA 184. Baltijas jūras Kurzemes piekrastē vēl līdz nesenam laikam bija saglabājušās daudzas padomju laika militārās būves, kuras uzņēmīgi ļaudis izmanto piejūras māju celtniecībai. Arī Saraiķos atradās pamatīgi degradētas militāras nozīmes ēkas, tostarp kāpās ieputināti bunkuri. Šobrīd piekrastes māja, kas uzcelta uz padomju laikmeta militāro vienību vēsturiskajiem pamatiem, iezīmē alternatīvu ceļu uz ilgtspējīgu arhitektūru.
Blakus bijušo militāro drupu vietā izveidoti divi nelieli viesu nami, kurus vasarās izīrē jūras tuvuma cienītājiem. Šeit joprojām saglabājusies neskarta jūras piekraste ar burvīgu pludmali. On the Baltic Sea coast in Saraiķi, an outstanding example of contemporary architecture has emerged — a seaside family residence built upon the foundations of former Soviet military structures. On a site once occupied by sand-buried bunkers and heavily degraded army buildings, the architectural studio OPEN AD created a modern living environment seamlessly integrated into the surrounding landscape. The project’s lead architect, Zane Tetere-Šulce, emphasizes that the main objective was to preserve the natural character of the coastal setting while giving the historically charged location a new purpose. The building has become an example of sustainable architecture in which remnants of military infrastructure are transformed into a harmonious family retreat.

The magic of UZV

A couple of weeks ago, our team and the students of LMA Interior Design headed to the beautiful landscapes of Kurzeme, where we’ve had the privilege of creating several private residences over the past few years.

One such project is UZV House. Nestled atop a natural dune, it blends effortlessly with its environment, appearing as a natural extension of the pine-needle-covered forest floor.

Inside, the building's unusual form reveals a modern perspective on the traditional mantle chimney. In the ancient Latvian homes, the pavards (hearth) was located in the kitchen beneath a chimney structure that could be almost as large as the room itself. The kitchen at UZV follows this principle, unfolding with an open two-story layout. The beautiful overhead light is slightly slanted - no maintenance needed.

The rest of the home flows in a circular layout, with sustainable and wellness-oriented solutions enhancing the home’s aesthetic - ceiling is clad in acoustic panels, walls are crafted from exposed CLT panels that reduce the need for additional finishing materials.
