Every decision in this project came down to one question: Will it last?

The same mindset carries through even the quieter spaces at One Curonia . Concrete, plywood, and Cewood wood wool panels weren't selected for appearance alone—they were chosen to endure. Built to withstand the intensive use, they'll only gain more character over time.

Here, durability is part of the aesthetic.

--

Sometimes the strongest element of an interior is already there.

In this project, it is the original timber structure. Restoring its warm tone and texture naturally guided the rest of the material palette. Light-toned and black surfaces, complemented by the brand's graphic elements, create an industrial yet warm atmosphere.

The interior reflects the character of the sport itself - disciplined, restrained and strong.

8 tonnes of mortar. That's how much it took to restore the facade of the building on Loču Street.

Bringing this facade back to life has been one of the most rewarding parts of the project.

It was first carefully cleaned and treated with a biocide where needed. Missing brick sections were rebuilt, repaired areas were seamlessly retouched, and all the mortar joints were meticulously restored.

Every stage required precision, patience, and a lot of hard work. Worth every tonne.

Some buildings don’t need a new identity—they need a new purpose.

This former warehouse in the historic centre of Liepāja now houses a Mixed Martial Arts centre One Curonia . The building volume was preserved, its brickwork restored, and every new intervention designed to remain clearly contemporary.

Dažām ēkām nav vajadzīga jauna identitāte — tām vajadzīgs jauns pielietojums.

Šī kādreizējā noliktava Liepājas vēsturiskajā centrā nu ir kļuvusi par jaukto cīņas mākslu (MMA) centru One Curonia . Saglabāts ēkas būvapjoms, atjaunots ķieģeļu mūris, bet visi jaunie elementi ieviesti kā skaidri nolasāmi laikmetīgi papildinājumi.

Family house in Riga’s Latgale suburb

Those familiar with this neighbourhood know that plots here are small. For the first time, we encountered a situation where plot consolidation was not permitted, so we had to carefully rethink the layout to fit everything a modern family needs within the allowed building parameters.

The main sense of spaciousness comes from the living area with its high ceilings and views towards the courtyard, while the remaining spaces were designed to be as compact and efficient as possible.

The second-floor studio serves equally well for both work and hobbies. A 1.2m wide circular window fills this room with natural light.

The interior brings to life the owners’ love for vintage elements and rich green and mustard tones.

New within heritage

Latgale Suburb — this part of Riga has always felt charming to us — vibrant, layered with history, diverse and wonderfully green. You can quickly get the small-town feeling while being just minutes away from the city centre.

Facing the street, the house responds to the scale and character of the neighbourhood with its timber structure, wooden cladding and shutters. It was carefully positioned to preserve the old pine tree near the house.

Inside, the space is bright and designed to meet the needs of modern comfort for a young family.

Mūsdienīga dzīve vēsturiskā kontekstā

Latgales apkaime - šī Rīgas daļa mums vienmēr likusies vilinoša- kolorīta, ar vēsturisku kontekstu, daudzveidīga un patīkami zaļa. Šeit var noķert mazpilsētas sajūtu dažu minūšu attālumā no centra.

Our drawings are coming to life in this lakeside house in Krāslava parish.

Windows play a key role in this project — big thanks to Krone for precision down to the last millimeter, as always.

The interior is shaped around clarity and everyday use.

Built-in elements, stair volumes, and attic spaces are used carefully to integrate hidden storage, keeping clutter out of sight and interiors visually calm. Furniture and storage are an integral part of the architecture rather than a later addition.

A timeless color palette ties everything together: calm grey concrete forms the background, warm wood furniture and window details bring softness, and black accents add graphic rhythm. Full-height mirrors in selected spaces reflect light and visually extend the rooms.

Old and new meet quietly.

The existing structure blends into the new extension, both insulated and clad in vertical wood planks. From the outside, the transition is subtle — the house reads as one continuous volume.

Inside, the new extension is defined by uninterrupted exposed concrete floor, giving a sense of continuity and calm. Wood appears in key areas, bringing warmth and softening the atmosphere.

A family house by the lake in Sigulda.
Designed for a family of five — to be the perfect place for workday buzz, quiet sunday mornings, and everything in between.

A former outbuilding has been transformed with a modern extension, becoming a compact yet comfortable family home. The challenge was simple: create a sense of openness and calm within a modest footprint.

Large windows, clear layouts, and natural materials do most of the work — the rest is thoughtful planning.
