ENERGY METER!

Have you ever looked at the energy meter the utility company installed at your house and wondered what those numbers really mean?

That meter is doing more than just sitting there! It measures how much electrical energy your household consumes—and that reading helps determine your bill.

WHY YOUR ENERGY METER MATTERS

Tracks your usage, records the electricity you consume in kilowatt-hours (kWh).

Helps determine your bill, your recorded consumption is used for billing.

Helps you monitor usage — regular readings can help you notice changes in your consumption.

Homeowner tip: If the meter looks damaged, smells burnt, makes unusual noises, or appears to be overheating, contact the utility provider. Never open or tamper with it yourself.

Do you check your meter daily to monitor your electricity usage? 👇🏾

YOUR CIRCUIT BREAKER CANNOT DETECT SMOKE!

Many homeowners believe that having circuit breakers and good electrical wiring is enough to protect their homes from fire. But there is something important you need to know.

⚡ A circuit breaker protects your electrical circuit against certain electrical faults.

🚨 A smoke alarm is designed to detect smoke and provide an early warning.

These devices serve different purposes, and one cannot replace the other.

Imagine a fire starting in your home while your entire family is sleeping. How will you know before the fire spreads?

🏠 As we build and improve our homes here in Liberia, let's think beyond beautiful buildings and expensive appliances. Let's also think about protecting the people inside them.

Fire safety starts before the fire begins. Don't wait for a tragedy to understand the importance of early warning.

👇 QUESTION: Does your home have a smoke alarm or fire alarm system installed? Tell me in the comments!

DOUBLE THROW SWITCH:
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

A double throw switch helps control power sources, such as switching between main electricity and a generator.

What if it starts burning?
Possible causes include loose connections, overloading, or a faulty switch.

What should you do?
✅ Stop using it immediately.
✅ Turn off the power if it is safe to do so.
✅ Call a qualified electrician for inspection and repair.

❌ Never attempt to repair a burning switch yourself. Don't ignore a burning switch! It could be a warning sign of an electrical fire.

THURSDAY MORNING ELECTRICAL TALK: CHECK YOUR SERVICE DROP!

Have you ever noticed the wires coming from the utility pole to your house?

That connection is called the utility service drop, and if it becomes loose or corroded, it can cause serious problems for your home.

Let’s talk about two things every homeowner should know:

1. VOLTAGE RISE
If a service connection becomes loose or corroded, it can create high resistance and dangerous voltage problems. You may notice lights behaving strangely, appliances malfunctioning, or connections overheating.

2. CORROSION
Rain, moisture, and weather can damage metal connection points over time. Corrosion can weaken the connection, cause overheating, and increase the risk of electrical damage or fire.

WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?
✅ Pay attention to unusual flickering or unusually bright lights.
✅ Report damaged, loose, or rusty utility connections.
✅ Have a qualified electrician inspect the parts of your installation they are authorized to work on.
✅ Never climb the utility pole or touch service wires yourself.

Important: If you notice unusual voltage symptoms, switch off sensitive appliances if it is safe to do so and contact the utility provider and a qualified electrician. The problem may be on the utility side or inside your installation, so proper testing is necessary.

Know the warning signs. Protect your appliances. Keep your family safe.

💬 QUESTION FOR HOMEOWNERS: Have you ever experienced lights getting unusually bright or dim in your house? Tell us what happened in the comments. 👇🏾

THURSDAY EVENING ELECTRICAL TALK!

HONESTY SHOULD GO BOTH WAYS.

We often talk about electricians being honest with their clients.

And yes—an electrician should give a fair price, recommend only what is necessary, use quality materials, and never take advantage of a client’s lack of electrical knowledge.

But let’s also be honest…Clients have a responsibility too.

If you already know there is an electrical problem, tell the electrician the full story.
If another electrician has worked on the installation before, mention it.

If you changed something after the electrician completed the work, let them know.
And if you agreed on a price or payment arrangement, keep your word.

An electrician cannot properly diagnose a problem when important information is being hidden.
And a client cannot expect quality professional service while being dishonest about the job or refusing to honor an agreement.

The best electrical projects happen when both sides communicate honestly, respect each other, and keep their word.
Because professionalism isn't only the electrician's responsibility.

Trust works both ways.

⚡ THURSDAY AFTERNOON ELECTRICAL TALK.

INTEGRITY MATTERS AS MUCH AS SKILL.

Being a professional electrician is not only about knowing how to connect wires, install breakers, or troubleshoot faults.
It’s also about doing the right thing when nobody is watching.

👍🏽If a job doesn’t need an extra material, don’t charge for it.
⚡ If something is unsafe, tell the client—even if fixing it costs more.
🛠️ If you make a mistake, own it and correct it.
💰 Give your client value, not unnecessary expenses.
🏠 Treat every home like it belongs to someone you care about.

A good electrician can make an electrical connection.
A great electrician earns the client’s trust.

At Dominic Electrical , we believe our work should not only be safe and professional—it should be honest.

Built with quality. Powered by trust.

THURSDAY ELECTRICAL TIP!

DO YOU KNOW WHY CIRCUIT BREAKERS COME IN DIFFERENT SIZES? Let's find out 👇🏽👇🏽

You may have seen breakers marked 6A, 10A, 16A, 20A, 25A, 32A, 40A, 50A or 63A.
But here’s the important part:

A bigger breaker does NOT mean better protection. The breaker size must match the cable size and the electrical load of the circuit.

For example:
Lighting circuits are usually smaller breakers.
Socket circuits are medium-sized breakers.
Air conditioners often require larger breakers.
Electric water heaters/cookers may require larger dedicated circuits.

Installing a larger breaker just because the smaller one keeps tripping can be dangerous. The breaker may stop protecting the cable from overheating.

Remember:
The breaker protects the cable not just the appliance. Before changing your breaker size, let a qualified electrician check the cable size, load, and circuit design.

Safety first. Every connection matters.
