"Physical Material Testing and Surface Finish Evaluation"

Material experimentation was carried out through physical samples and mock-ups to evaluate texture, appearance, durability, and suitability for the project. This process helped identify the most appropriate materials and finishes to enhance both the architectural character and performance of the building.

The site is located at Raththanapitiya Junction, next to Boralesgamuwa city, the project occupies a prominent location within a dense urban fabric. At the time of appointment, the structure had been constructed up to an intermediate stage. The client's aspiration was to transform the existing development into a contemporary living environment with a stronger architectural presence.

The proposal therefore focused on redefining the facade, improving spatial quality, and incorporating greenery throughout the project to soften the urban setting and enhance user experience, comfort, and visual appeal.

The architectural intervention focused on creating a strong visual identity through a unique patterned terracotta (smart brick) facade, transforming the appearance of the partially completed structure. The façade enhances both aesthetics and environmental performance while introducing a contemporary tropical character.

A green rooftop terrace was also designed as an extension of the living environment, providing a versatile space for family functions, leisure activities, and social interaction, while increasing the project's green footprint within the urban context.
