Underseepage Control

පස් බැම්මක් (Embankment Dam) යට ඇති පදනම් පස, (Foundation Soil) පස් බැම්මට වඩා වැඩියෙන් Permeability (ජලය පහසුවෙන් ගමන් කරන) වේනම්, බැම්ම යටින් ජලය ගලා යාම (Underseepage) පාලනය කිරීම ඉතා වැදගත් වේ.

පස් බැම්ම යටින් ජලය ගලා යාම වළක්වා ගැනීමට Grout Curtain එකක් භාවිතා කරනු ලබයි. මෙය සිමෙන්ති මිශ්‍රණයක් (Grout) පසට ඇතුල් කර සාදන ජලය නොයන බාධකයක් (Impermeable Cut-off) වේ. මෙමගින් Underseepage එක බොහෝ දුරට නතර කරයි.
Concrete Diaphragm Wall (කොන්ක්‍රීට් ඩයෆ්‍රෑම් බිත්තිය) භාවිතා කිරීම තවත් Impermeable Cut-off ක්‍රමයකි. කොන්ක්‍රීට් බිත්තියක් මගින් ජලය එයට යටින් ගලා යාම අවම කරයි.
Upstream Blanket (ඉහළ පැත්තේ ආවරණය) යෙදීම තවත් ක්‍රමයකි. මෙය කරනු ලබන්නේ පස් බැම්මේ Upstream (ජලය ඇති පැත්තේ) අඩු Permeability ඇති පස් තට්ටුවක් දැමීමෙනි. මෙය Impermeable Upstream Blanket ලෙස හැඳින්වේ. එමගින් ජලය ගලා යන මාර්ගය (Seepage Path) දිගු වේ. ජලය පහසුවෙන් බැම්මට යටින් ගලා යාම අඩුවේ. නමුත් මෙමගින් Underseepage සම්පූර්ණයෙන් නවතාලීමට හැකි වන්නේ නැත, අඩු කිරීම පමණක් සිදු කරයි.
