FRAMING THE OCEAN | TANGALLE BAY VIEW HOTEL

Upcoming Interior Design Proposal | VW Architects
What if the ocean became part of the interior?

For our upcoming hospitality project in Tangalle, we are exploring the relationship between architecture, interior spaces, and the surrounding coastal landscape.
Inspired by Mediterranean coastal living and Sri Lankaโ€™s tropical character, the design concept brings together warm natural textures, soft earthy tones, handcrafted details, and open, light-filled spaces.

Our intention is simple: to create an experience where the interiors quietly complement their surroundings, allowing the ocean, natural light, and coastal atmosphere to become the defining elements of the space.

A different perspective on coastal hospitality โ€” where the view becomes part of the architecture.

Architecture becomes meaningful when a space carries the story of the people behind it.
What started with a simple call through Facebook became a journey of trust, collaboration and constant refinement from sketches and visualisations to materials, details and construction.
From a small roti cart to a growing business with a new architectural identity, this space represents another chapter of that journey.
Proud to have played a part in translating that hard work, growth and ambition into architecture.

Beauty & Wellness Space for a Boutique Hotel | Matara, Sri Lanka
Architecture as a framework for wellness.

The concept for *Arannays* explores how interior architecture can create a sense of calm, restoration and connection to place, translating the character of Sri Lankan tropical living into a contemporary wellness environment.

The material palette is intentionally restrained natural timber, warm stone, textured plaster, muted fabrics and subtle bronze accents allowing proportion, craftsmanship, texture and light to define the spatial experience.

The objective is to develop a contemporary Sri Lankan interior language rooted in context without becoming traditionally decorative creating a subtle dialogue between tropical architecture, wellness philosophy and contemporary boutique hospitality.

Some architectural stories are never written in concrete or bamboo. They remain as sketches, ideas, and dreams captured only on paper and in imagination.

This Bamboo Villa was envisioned as a contemporary tropical retreat that celebrates sustainable architecture through the beauty and versatility of bamboo. Designed to embrace nature, the concept combines open living spaces, natural ventilation, handcrafted details, and a seamless indoorโ€“outdoor lifestyle.

Unfortunately, this project never moved beyond the sketch and design stage. Despite the passion behind the vision, it was never realized. Yet, every line drawn, every space imagined, and every detail designed remains a reminder that architecture is not only about what gets builtโ€”but also about the ideas that inspire the future.

Some stories are never built, but they are still worth telling.

Project Status: Unbuilt Architectural Concept
