MWArchitectS We believe that in a world of limited resources paring down to the essentials can bring unique places

We are an architectural and design practice in Sri Lanka that visualizes the built environment as place making and affords rather a slow toned cool architecture. Mohan Wijayaratna, principle Architect of MW ArchitectS is a Chartered Architect and an Associate member of the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects. He studied Architecture at the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka and is practicing Architec

ture since 2002 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The philosophy of the practice believes that in a world of limited resources paring down to the essentials can bring unique places with value at home, community and environment. It results in simple forms, “honest” or unselfconscious use of materials and details minimum required for the place making. A thinking attitude reflecting client’s imperatives, countries’ context, available technology and everyday operational problems to arrive at creative solutions with economy and simplicity.

Wishing our clients, teammates, and well-wishers continued success, coupled with a great commitment to creative design.

Kaludiya Pokuna Archaeological Forest Site, located in Kandalama, is an ancient monastic settlement dating back to the 2nd century BC. Hidden within the dry-zone forest, the site features the remains of meditation paths, an uposathaghara, parivena cells, bathhouses, and other stone-built structures that reveal the depth of early Buddhist monastic life. A calm, atmospheric landscape where history, nature, and spirituality blend seamlessly.
