Roshan Senaratne Roshan Senaratne was introduced to architecture at a very tender age by his father.

Roshan Senaratne is an established architect with over 15 years of experience, and he specializes in melding traditional Sri Lankan and contemporary minimalist architecture to create ergonomic, beautiful spaces. After the completion of secondary education, he learnt the essentials of architecture at the City School of Architecture (Colombo), and left to London where he received a Bachelor of Arts

in Architecture. Returning to Sri Lanka soon after, he joined the prestigious Murad Ismail Channa Daswatta Associates. In 2002, Roshan Senaratne started his own practice, and acquired the Architectural Licentiate membership awarded by the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects in 2009. Nurturing a style unique to his own, over the past one and a half decades, he has completed myriad versatile residential and commercial spaces and earned himself an unwavering reputation in the local industry.

A timeless transformation inspired by the warmth and romance of Portuguese Spanish style architecture.

This renovation in Pelawatta reimagines an existing 1970's home into a contemporary Spanish villa, where graceful arches, soft pastel tones, handcrafted mosaic tiles, and textured white walls come together to create a home that is both elegant and inviting.

The design unfolds around outdoor living. An expansive swimming pool becomes the heart of the residence, framed by an arched veranda and a pool pavilion. The pantry and bar lounge open seamlessly onto a dedicated verandah with a BBQ area, encouraging effortless entertaining while embracing the tropical landscape.

Inside, the two-storey, three-bedroom home is carefully composed to balance openness with privacy. The first floor occupies only one wing of the house, creating a light and airy silhouette while accommodating a luxurious master suite complete with a walk-in closet, ensuite bathroom, private pantry, study, and generous terraces.

Blending Mediterranean charm with modern tropical living, this renovation celebrates natural light, indoor-outdoor connections, and timeless architectural character—proving that a familiar home can be transformed into a destination of its own.

Perched high on the breathtaking slopes of Hanthana, this extraordinary residence is designed to become one with its landscape. Sculpted into the hillside across four split levels, every space captures spectacular views of the Hanthana Mountain Range and the city of Kandy below.

Expansive glass openings and dramatic corner windows fill the interiors with natural light, framing the surrounding scenery like a living work of art. Above, a striking butterfly roof gives the home its distinctive contemporary character.
The entrance level brings together the living, dining, and kitchen spaces, while the lower levels open onto a private plunge pool and a spacious covered terrace suspended above the hillside.

Nestled within the tropical landscape of Midigama, this holiday villa is conceived as a collection of three independent one-bedroom pavilions, carefully arranged around a central pool and garden. The architecture draws from the principles of tropical modernism, reinterpreted through subtle references to the vernacular character of Sri Lanka’s southern coast.

Generous openings, deep overhangs, and fluid indoor-outdoor spaces maximize natural light, cross ventilation, and visual connectivity with the surrounding landscape. The central pool acts as the organizing element of the composition, creating a shared focal point while maintaining privacy for each villa.

Framed by lush tropical planting, the architecture is designed as an extension of its setting—where built form, climate, and landscape are seamlessly integrated. The result is a lively yet serene retreat where contemporary design meets the beauty of the tropics.
