23rd ARCASIA FORUM INDIA
architects regional council asia
under the theme “bringing back vernacular wisdom”
an insightful and inspiring week — and an honour for our director, martin aerne, to represent cambodia at the arcasia committee for social responsibility (ACSR), together with delegates from 22 asian countries.
the forum brought together representatives and leaders of architects’ associations from across asia to exchange perspectives on the role of architecture in responding to the social, cultural and environmental challenges of our rapidly changing world — while reflecting on the knowledge and values embedded in asia’s rich architectural heritage.
a particular highlight was the keynote by japanese architect riken yamamoto, pritzker prize laureate 2024, titled “the concept of asia and community”. his reflections connected contemporary architectural thinking with local traditions and the enduring importance of community — a theme highly relevant to the future of our cities and built environment.
beyond the formal meetings, discussions and debates on issues shaping the advancement of architecture — from the united arab emirates to japan, and from mongolia to indonesia — the many informal encounters, exchanges with old friends and new connections, together with the celebration of asia’s remarkable cultural diversity, made the week truly extraordinary.
for us, arcasia is not only about representing our countries, but about learning from one another and contributing to a shared architectural future for asia.
