គម្រោងកែលម្អហាងម៉ាតឆា និងកាហ្វេ | Nomi: Renewing Space Through Material and Identity

The renovation of Nomi focuses on redefining the café's identity through a series of architectural and interior interventions. While the existing store functioned well, the façade and interior offered an opportunity to better communicate the brand and create a warmer, more engaging environment. The design emphasizes a clearer visual identity, improved materiality, and a more comfortable customer experience without altering the overall footprint.

A new curved Alucobond façade, supported by exposed steel framing, establishes a stronger architectural expression while introducing Nomi's signature matcha green as the primary brand element. The entrance is redesigned to feel more inviting, complemented by illuminated signage that enhances visibility from the street. Inside, warm lighting replaces the existing cool-toned ambience, while pendant fixtures, timber flooring, and integrated branding create a cohesive material palette. Merchandise displays and feature walls are incorporated to strengthen the relationship between the space and the brand.

The upper floor is replanned with distinct seating zones to support different patterns of use, from casual gatherings to working and studying. Furniture layouts are refined to improve circulation and spatial balance, while updated lighting and branded elements provide continuity across both levels. Together, these interventions create a café that feels cohesive, recognizable, and better aligned with Nomi's identity.

The interior evokes a grounded vernacular character through weathered rustic wood, exposed structural elements, and handcrafted detailing. Warm timber textures and reclaimed materials create a tactile, authentic atmosphere, while layered warm lighting—from dim spotlights and wall sconces to table lamps and string lights—bathes the space in a soft amber glow, enriching depth, shadow, and intimacy throughout the rooftop setting.

គម្រោងរចនាហាងកាហ្វេនិងអូម៉ាកាសិ | Cafe & Omakase Experience: Architecture Inspired by Nature, Crafted Through Fluidity

This fully renovated 1960s villa in Phnom Penh has been transformed into a contemporary café and omakase destination, bringing new life to an existing structure through a refined architectural language. Clean horizontal lines, generous overhangs, and gently curved wood-finish aluminum louvers introduce a subtle Japanese influence, while fluted travertine surfaces, expansive glazing, and lush greenery create a seamless dialogue between architecture and landscape.

The interior welcomes guests with a handcrafted rough stone-textured cement counter, framed by a vibrant indoor garden and a series of timber arches overhead. A palette of natural stone, polished cement, warm wood, soft fabrics, and integrated planting establishes a calm and inviting atmosphere, balancing contemporary elegance with understated warmth.

Flowing organic curves become the defining element of the project, extending across walls, ceilings, furniture, and architectural details. These fluid forms soften the spatial experience and create a sense of movement throughout the building, resulting in a serene environment that encourages guests to slow down, connect with nature, and immerse themselves in the dining experience.

// High-rise residential, 2026

A high-rise penthouse in Phnom Penh reimagined as a quiet sanctuary above the city, where contemporary luxury unfolds in soft restraint. Warm, incandescent light drifts across textured surfaces and gently curved walls, dissolving edges into a cocoon of calm. Deep brown and black tones anchor bespoke furnishings, while custom artworks and layered natural elements bring a curated stillness to the space. Subtly hotel-like yet deeply personal, the interior becomes an intimate composition of shadow, warmth, and material richness—an elevated retreat of discreet, enduring elegance.
