Uniformed Disciplined Services Hold Joint Prayer and Thanksgiving Service in Embu

Uniformed disciplined service officers from the Upper Eastern Conservancy today gathered at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Parish for a Joint Prayer and Thanksgiving Service themed “Be Strong and Steadfast, for the Lord Your God is with You” (Joshua 1:9).

The thanksgiving service brought together officers from the Kenya Forest Service, Kenya Police Service, Administration Police Service, Directorate of Criminal Investigations, Kenya Prisons Service, and Kenya Wildlife Service.
The Holy Mass was led by the main celebrant, Rt. Rev. Peter Kimani Ndung'u, who delivered a sermon titled “The Value of Little Things That Capture the Attention of God.”

In his message, the Bishop emphasized the importance of instilling discipline within families as a foundation for peace, security, and harmony in society. He commended security officers for their unwavering commitment to safeguarding communities and encouraged them to serve wholeheartedly as though serving God.The Bishop further appreciated the sacrifices made by officers in the line of duty and urged them to demonstrate kindness and compassion to all people. He reminded the congregation that God recognizes and rewards dedication, sacrifice, and hard work. The Chief Guest,the county commissioner Embu Mr Morris Wanyonyi, called upon officers to continue discharging their duties with dedication, integrity, and professionalism in service to the nation.

Also present was Dr. Clement Ngoriareng, who thanked the Catholic Church for hosting the noble event and fostering spiritual growth among disciplined services. He underscored the importance of unity, collaboration, and mutual support among the various security agencies in effectively delivering their respective mandates.

Among those in attendance was Madam Jennifer Wachira the Regional Commandant Eastern, alongside other senior officers from the participating agencies. The service was also attended by Bishop Amos Ololdapash, the Chaplain of the Kenya Forest Service, and the entire chaplaincy team, who played a key role in coordinating the event.

The thanksgiving celebration concluded on a joyous note with a communal cake-cutting ceremony, symbolizing unity, gratitude and fellowship among the disciplined services. Following the cake-cutting session, the officers held a brief meeting where they reflected on the significance of the event and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation, teamwork and mutual support in the ex*****on of their respective mandates.

World Environment Day Tree Growing

The Kenya Forest Service (KFS) in collaboration with national and county government agencies, educational institutions, development partners, community organizations and the private sector, marked World Environment Day 2026 through extensive tree growing activities across the country. Guided by the global theme of environmental restoration and climate action, thousands of Kenyans came together in schools, universities, forests and public institutions to plant and nurture trees as part of the national effort to increase tree cover and build climate resilience.

The celebrations were witnessed by several distinguished guests, including the Deputy County Commissioner of Samia Sub-County, County Executive Committee Members from Uasin Gishu and Marsabit counties, the County Director of Environment in Busia, the NEMA County Director for Kisii, representatives from the Registrar of Political Parties, university leadership, school administrators and community leaders. Their presence underscored the importance of collective action in restoring degraded landscapes and securing a sustainable future for generations to come.

Across the country, a total of 14,852 tree seedlings were planted during the day’s activities. Nyanza Conservancy recorded the highest number with 4,707 seedlings planted in Kisii County, followed by Nairobi Conservancy with 4,024 seedlings planted across Kajiado and Ngong Hills. North Eastern Conservancy contributed 3,350 seedlings through school planting initiatives and community distribution programmes in Mandera County, while Western Conservancy planted 1,500 seedlings at Samia Girls Senior School in Busia County.

Mau Conservancy planted 1,000 seedlings at Egerton University in Njoro, Central Highlands Conservancy established 208 seedlings at Nderi Primary School in Kikuyu, Ewaso North Conservancy planted 50 seedlings in Marsabit County, and North Rift Conservancy commemorated the day with the planting of 13 ceremonial indigenous trees at Labuiywet Primary School in Turbo Sub-County.

Beyond the numbers, the day served as a powerful reminder that tree growing is not a one-day event but a long-term commitment to environmental conservation. KFS appreciates the support of all partners, stakeholders and communities who participated in the celebrations and continues to encourage every Kenyan to plant, grow and protect trees as part of the journey towards achieving the national tree-growing target and creating a greener, healthier and more resilient Kenya.

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2026 – MACHAKOS COUNTY

KFS Machakos joined NEMA and other stakeholders in commemorating World Environment Day 2026 at Masinga Dam Resort under the theme "Global Call for Climate Action" and the slogan " ." The event was led by the County Director of Environment, NEMA, and graced by the Ag. DCC Masinga, Mr. Bill Kituzi.

Participants included representatives from TARDA, NEMA, the County Government of Machakos, NGAO, ORPP, KALRO, Tana Athi, KENHA, YSD, Machakos TTC, KENGEN, WRA, Chemichemi ya Mazingira, local leaders, and schools.

A key highlight of the event was the distribution of 2,000 tree seedlings (1,120 assorted fruit trees and 880 indigenous trees) to schools and communities in support of environmental conservation and the national tree-growing campaign.

The Asst. Conservator of forests Nancy Wanjuhi emphasized the importance of tree growing and environmental stewardship in support of the 15 Billion Tree Growing Programme, while underscoring the need for proper site-species matching and the adoption of innovative technologies to enhance seedling survival and ecosystem restoration success.

The Kenya Forest Service (KFS) led an Inter-Agency Prayer and Thanksgiving Service at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Parish in Kiambu, bringing together officers from various disciplined services, their families, clergy, and community members. The event provided an opportunity for reflection, gratitude, and renewed dedication to public service.

The main celebrant, Rt. Rev. Wallace Ng'ang'a the Bishop of the Military Ordinariate highlighted the importance of strong family relationships and unity among officers, noting that these contribute to social cohesion and lasting peace. Representing the Regional Commissioner, Deputy County Commissioner Mr. Macharia called on officers to uphold high moral standards, act fairly, and respect human dignity in their service.

During the service, KFS Senior Deputy Chief Conservator of Forests, Dr. Clement Ng'oriareng', encouraged officers to remain grateful and committed to serving the public with professionalism, peace, and integrity. He also thanked the Catholic Church for supporting the spiritual wellbeing of officers.

Kenya Forest Service Participates in World Environment Day Celebrations

Kenya Forest Service joined stakeholders in marking World Environment Day 2026 in Ol Kalou, Nyandarua County, during a vibrant celebration that brought together government leaders, local communities, women, youth, and cultural groups through colorful traditional performances.

Speaking during the event, the Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change and Forestry, Deborah Barasa, highlighted key milestones achieved by the Ministry, including initiatives that support livelihood improvement, agroforestry promotion, adoption of drought-resistant crops and enhanced climate monitoring systems. She emphasized on the ongoing 15 Billion Trees Growing Programme, which is contributing significantly to the restoration of climate-resilient ecosystems.

Kenya Forest Service, represented by Nyandarua County Forest Conservator Daniel Mkung, showcased a range of forest products and demonstrated the critical role forests play in climate change mitigation, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable livelihoods. Other KFS officials in attendance were Madam Ann Kaari, Manager Corporate Communications and Edith Bikeri Deputy Director at the Natural Forest Conservation.

Uniformed Services Thanksgiving Planning Meeting Held in Mau Region

The Regional Forest Conservator (RFC) Mau Region, Mr. Dennis Kerengo, today chaired a planning meeting for the upcoming Uniformed Services Thanksgiving event. The meeting brought together representatives from various disciplined forces, including officers from the Kenya Forest Service, Kenya Prisons Service, Kenya Wildlife Service, Directorate of Criminal Investigations, National Youth Service, and Administration Police Service.

In his remarks, Mr. Kerengo welcomed all participants and emphasized the importance of supporting and rehabilitating colleagues who may have lost their way due to alcohol abuse and other challenges in the workplace. He noted that charity begins at home and encouraged officers to foster a culture of care, support, and accountability within their respective institutions.

The RFC further reminded participants that they are ambassadors of their organizations and should strive to positively influence others by changing lives, inspiring hope, and promoting unity among the disciplined services.

CCF Hosts KCB Team to Discuss Solar Energy Financing

The Chief Conservator of Forests, Mr. Alex Lemarkoko, today hosted a delegation from Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) led by the Head of Sustainability, Mr. Erick Naivasha, to discuss opportunities for the adoption of solar energy across Kenya Forest Service (KFS) facilities.

During the meeting, KCB presented its solar energy financing solution aimed at supporting institutions transitioning to clean, reliable, and cost-effective power sources. KFS LAUNCHES TACTICAL COMMAND COURSE

The Kenya Forest Service (KFS) has today launched its inaugural Tactical Operations and Middle-Level Command Courses at the newly established Mukutani Field Training School in Mukutani Forest, Baringo County. The move marks a strategic step to bolster forest security operations and build a more capable leadership cadre within the KFS protection and security personel.

The first cohort consists of officers drawn from KFS operational units in Baringo, Nakuru, and Kericho counties. The specialized programme aims to sharpen tactical skills, leadership acumen, and operational readiness for managing forest security across their respective areas of responsibility.

The course is the beginning of a nationwide, continuous capacity-building initiative targeting junior and middle-level command officers. Trainees will gain competencies in tactical planning, command and control, field operations, and inter-agency coordination, essential for executing KFS’s mandate at conservancy, county, and station levels.

Speaking at the opening ceremony on behalf of the Chief Conservator of Forests, the Deputy Commandant Wilson Leboo, praised the participating officers for their professionalism and dedication to forest protection. He noted their willingness to respond to operational demands and reinforce field teams in safeguarding Kenya’s forest resources.

The event was attended by the DCC Mukutani, Mr. Mike Wangila, the Commanding Officer- Forest Law Enforcement Academy (FoLEA), Apolinary Mwandigha, Mau Conservancy Regional Commandant, David Mutoro, Baringo County Forest Conservator Mr. Tobias Achungo, training instructors, and members of the Mukutani Community Forest Association (CFA).

Tree Growing Round Up

His Excellency the President Dr. William Samoei Ruto led tree-growing activities in North Eastern Kenya, planting trees at the ACC Office Compound in Lagdera, Garissa County, and at Eldas Water Supply Office in Wajir County. The events brought together county security teams, National Government Administration Officers (NGAO), Water Resources Authority officials, Kenya Forest Service (KFS) staff, and other government departments in support of the national 15 Billion Trees Growing Programme. These activities underscore the Government's commitment to ecosystem restoration, climate resilience, and sustainable environmental management.

Across the country, Kenya Forest Service and its partners continued to mobilize communities, institutions, and stakeholders in large-scale tree growing and forest rehabilitation efforts. In Mau Conservancy, a total of 62,063 seedlings were planted through rehabilitation initiatives in Bomet, Nakuru, and Narok Counties, including the launch of the Wezesha CBO forest rehabilitation programme and a major restoration exercise at Chepalungu Forest graced by Old Mutual CEO Arthur Oginga.

Eastern Conservancy recorded 61 trees planted during Madaraka Day and Kitui Run for Water celebrations, led by County Commissioner Erastus Mbui, DCC Lilian Njagi, and Hon. Hariette Chysai from the Office of the President. North Eastern Conservancy planted 2,455 trees, while Nyanza Conservancy achieved 2,711 trees through school greening, rehabilitation, and institutional planting programmes.

Western Conservancy planted 6 trees during a ceremonial exercise presided over by Head of Public Service Hon. Felix Kosgei, Coast Conservancy planted 204 trees during Madaraka Day celebrations led by the Wundanyi Deputy County Commissioner, and Central Highlands Conservancy established an arboretum at TVET Posta in Laikipia under the leadership of former Governor H.E. Joshua Irungu and county officials. These collaborative efforts continue to strengthen Kenya's journey towards achieving the national tree-growing target while enhancing biodiversity conservation and community participation in environmental stewardship.
