Ecoconcrete’s beam-and-block technology uses precast concrete beams and interlocking blocks, which form a strong floor system without needing a full reinforced concrete slab.
Because the beams are made with the required strength, they already contain the minimum high tensile steel needed inside them. On site, you simply lay the beams and place the blocks between them, no BRC mesh is required and very little extra steel reinforcement is needed.
This system reduces steel use because the beams carry the load, while the blocks act as infill rather than structural elements. It also avoids casting a thick in-situ slab, which normally demands heavy BRC and reinforcement.
