🏠 Material Spotlight: Types of Mabati in Kenya – Which is Right for You?

In Kenya, mabati (corrugated metal roofing sheets) remains one of the most popular roofing choices—affordable, versatile, and widely available. But not all mabati are created equal. Here’s a quick breakdown:

🔹 Corrugated Mabati – Wavy design, durable, budget-friendly, but can be noisier during rain.
🔹 Box Profile Mabati – Sleek, modern look with better water flow, but slightly pricier.
🔹 Tile Profile Mabati – Mimics clay tiles, great aesthetics, but heavier and more expensive.
🔹 Polycarbonate Mabati – Transparent or translucent, perfect for natural lighting, but less durable for large roofs.
🔹 Coloured/Coated Mabati – Offers rust protection & style, but requires proper installation to avoid scratches.

✅ Tip: Choose mabati based on your budget, climate, and desired aesthetics. And remember—proper installation is just as important as the sheet you choose!

🔍 Site Practices That Make or Break a Structure

As a construction site progresses, the smallest decisions can make a big impact on a building’s strength. Here are a few practices to keep an eye on:

🚫 Risky Practices That Compromise Structural Integrity

Improper bar bending or cutting — weakens reinforcement.
Skipping curing of concrete — leads to cracks & reduced strength.
Using wrong concrete mix ratios — can cause structural failure.
Reusing rusted or damaged rebar — reduces bonding and durability.
Rushing formwork removal — destabilizes early-stage concrete.
