After a gorgeous day discovering Lake Constance, I had a swim in the beautiful crystal clear water, and then did a painting! A perfect day.

We had the best weather in Lake Constance! The water was refreshing but still warm, the sun was shining, and I had the perfect opportunity to do a painting after my swim.

Although we just arrived in Austria, this painting is from a photo I took in Meersburg, Germany a few days ago. We’ve been travelling around Europe in a campervan, and I’ve been getting so much painting inspiration but not much time to sit down and paint. But now we’ve found a really lovely spot to chill out in Austria, and I’m hoping to catch up on some painting!

This painting is from a restaurant that blew me away because of its bright orange colour with green vines swallowing it up. The small village of Meersburg is on the edge of Lake Constance, and after wondering through the historical streets we found a swimming spot and jumped into the crystal clear water. It was such a beautiful evening, the water was a perfect temperature, and afterwards we air dried ourselves while watching the sun set in the distance.

Hiking and painting in southern Germany has got to be a top 10 life moment

Stuttgart has such a lovely mix of old streets, hidden corners and grand architecture, with a castle right in the middle of it all.

We spent the afternoon wandering around with a friend, before finding a shady spot where I could paint while the boys played football nearby.

It was one of those slow, ordinary afternoons that somehow becomes a favourite memory.

Although… the boys did manage to lose their football somewhere along the way. 😂
