KIDS CRAFT EXHIBITION JUSO, OSAKA, JAPAN

Ben Ryuki Miyagi taught children how to design Okashina-ie (Quirky house, Fantastic, Gingerbread-like house). Works by students were included in a recent exhibition that celebrates 30th year of Kids Craft as a private art school.
キッズクラフト展
の活動30周年を記念して、キッズクラフト展が開催されました。この展示ではお菓子な家 も展示されました。
2026年の4月と5月に宮城竜紀が特別にゲスト講師として招待され、お菓子な家というテーマで子供たちが作品を作りました。
1回90分のクラスを各生徒が合計3回かけて作りました。 各クラスの始まる前に、このクラスのために宮城竜紀自身が作った立体作品例や、宮城竜紀が毎日描くアイデアスケッチブックからのイメージなどを子供たちに紹介しました。
建築的な創作のプロセスを体験するため、一回目のクラスでは模型を作る前にまず想像している家の設計図を上や横や斜めなど様々な角度から描くという課題となりました。
予想通り、子供には大人には出来ないイマジネーションがあり、各クラスの後、子供たちから影響を受けて宮城竜紀自身も帰宅後スケッチブックに様々なアイデアを描くという日々となりました。
宮城竜紀は、これらのアイデアが将来、自身による幼稚園や小学校、子供美術館などの設計に役立てばいいと願っています。
Based on 5 sculptural examples made by Ben Ryuki Miyagi himself in clay and painted with acrylics, children made their own house, using clay. Each student spent a total of 3 classes, of each class of 90 minutes.
In order to experience “architectural” process of design, students were encouraged to draw their imaginary house from multiple angles such as roof plan, elevations, bird’s eye views, before making sculpture of the house.
Inspired by these student’s imagination, after each class, Ben Ryuki Miyagi himself went home and spent a lot of time sketching new ideas in his daily sketch exercise notebook.
Ben Ryuki Miyagi hopes that someday these ideas will help his design of buildings such as a kindergarten and a children’s museum.
