急な納期にも関わらず、片桐さん、岩井染工さん

当日のイベントにもお伺いしましたが
会場は新宿伊勢丹の駐車場、8Fと7Fを貸し切り
ゲストは、車を乗り付けて、ミーティングする
Car and Coffee の形式。

正に東京を主張するようなイベントのりは、非常に新鮮でした。

Bentley Supersports.
The project came to us through Round Cat just two weeks before the event, which led to an intense but exciting production process. Within a very short timeframe, we created three custom pieces: a tote bag, a work shirt, and a cap.
First and foremost, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who helped make this possible.
A special thank you to Katagiri-san for creating the production patterns, Iwai Senko for the dyeing work, and the embroidery team responsible for the caps. Your craftsmanship and dedication made it possible to deliver everything on time.
We also had the pleasure of attending the event itself. Held across the 7th and 8th floor parking levels of Isetan Shinjuku, the venue was transformed into a unique Cars & Coffee gathering, where guests arrived in their own vehicles and connected through a shared passion for automobiles.
The atmosphere felt distinctly Tokyo—modern, vibrant, and deeply rooted in automotive culture. It was a refreshing experience and a wonderful expression of the lifestyle surrounding the Bentley brand.
We are truly grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such a special event.

Another Kyoto kimono workshop disappears with time

We work in together over 30years until this years.

また一件、工場（引き染め屋さん）が廃業されました。

岡重とは、もう30年以上付き合いのある工場さんでした。

とはいえ、岡重が直接お願いするようになったのは
現代表になってからのことです。

とても大きな工場で、
内部にはまるで防空壕のような空間もありました。
京都らしい、間口が狭く奥へ長く続く建物。

玄関の扉を開けると、いつも“ヂリヂリ”と鈴の音が鳴り、その奥から作業中の職人さんが出てこられる——
そんな光景が今でも印象に残っています。

工場全体から滲み出る空気感は
決して意図して作れるものではなく

長い年月と仕事の積み重ねによってのみ
生まれるものでした。

しかし残念ながら、後継者がおられず
この建物も取り壊されることになったそうです。
長い間、大変お世話になりました。

ここ数年、廃業される工場さんが本当に増えております。

あまり使いたくない言葉ですが

これもひとつの「時代」なのかもしれません。

トルソー文様　Torso motif Taisho-era（ 1912~1926s)

この不思議なトルソーのデザイン。

これもずばり羽裏柄なんです。

縦、横、自由に置いて、裏地の図案として成立させる。

これこそ岡重の芸ではないでしょうか。

表舞台には現れにくい領域にこそ

価値を見出していた裏勝りの時代です。

This mysterious torso design is, in fact, a haura (haori lining) pattern.
By placing the motif freely—vertically or horizontally—it comes together as a lining design.
This flexibility is precisely where Okaju’s craftsmanship shines.
It reflects the ura-masari philosophy of the time, when true value was found in what remained hidden rather than on display.

同じ薔薇でも、全く雰囲気の異なる図案の一つ。

花の中のグラデーションには、柄の奥行きが加わり、

こちらも型枚数の多い図案の一つではないでしょうか。

Even with the same rose motif, this design has a completely different atmosphere.

The gradation within the petals adds depth to the pattern,

and it is likely one that required a large number of stencils.

花の中の色目も、1色ではなく細かく糸目を置き配色されています。

Rose Motif
Not a traditional rose pattern, but one with a subtle Western feel.
The petals are not rendered in a single color — fine outlines allow multiple tones to blend delicately within each flower.
Okaju’s archive includes several rose designs,
so next time we’ll share another haura pattern with a very different rose expression.
