Art does not document defeat; it anatomizes tension. This figure is not falling; it is holding back the accumulated force for impact. The extreme muscularity and anatomical tension condense the resistance of the Cuban people against the dictatorship: a body subjected to maximum pressure that refuses to break. The unfinished lines contrast with the raw force of the form to remind us that freedom is a work in progress, sustained by the non-negotiable dignity of those who resist.

There are looks that cry out what words cannot express.
This artwork stems from the painful reality faced by the Cuban people against the abuses and repression of a dictatorship. Reflected in this child’s eyes is stolen innocence, the anguish of a suffering nation, and the unbroken dignity of those who refuse to surrender.
Art is my form of resistance and my voice to never stay silent. 🇨🇺✨
