REGIO EARTH 2026 - and that's a wrap!

We took some time to clear the site and organise the results of the summer school. What a week it was. Six intense days of earth, experimentation, design, encounters and, above all, people.

A huge THANK YOU to all our trainers for sharing their knowledge and passion, to our local team, to all participants and to everyone who joined us and made these days so special.

The Summer School may be over, but the journey continues.
For Regio Earth, the next stop is Serbia — see you next year! For our project, this is just the beginning of a new chapter: the knowledge, stories, experiments and results gathered during Regio Earth 2026 will now come together in a travelling exhibition, taking this experience to new places and new audiences.

A few more moments from day four — our last day of workshops, spent making, experimenting, and learning together. Just one more day before the Summer School came to an end.

On the fourth day, our participants kept working with local earth and natural fibers, learning by doing, sharing skills, and enjoying the process together.

On the third day, our participants continued working with local earth and fibers, learning by doing and sharing knowledge along the way.

After the first day exploring earth as a building material, our participants are now working in groups, moving through different hands-on activities and discovering how local earth can be turned into building materials and techniques.

Together, they are learning how to make adobe bricks, mix and apply earthen plasters, work with wattle and daub, and experiment with rammed earth.

REGIO EARTH 2026 has officially begun. We opened this year’s summer school inside the UVT ArtCenter at the Universitatea de Vest din Timișoara.

The morning introduced the wider context of earthen architecture, the origins of REGIO EARTH and the ECVET Earth certification framework. We then explored
the Facultatea de Arte si Design - UVT, our partner and host for this year’s school.
In the afternoon, we got our hands on the material itself: learning how to recognise and characterise local earths, collected across Banat, as the first step towards
transforming them into building materials in the days ahead.

The material has been identified. The next phase of learning and experimentation begins.

În prima săptămână din septembrie, școala de vară REGIO EARTH aduce 32 de participanți și 12 traineri internaționali la Facultatea de Arte si Design - UVT din Timișoara, pentru a explora inovarea creativă a pământurilor și tehnicilor constructive locale.

Săptămâna se va încheia cu un weekend dedicat publicului larg. Vă așteptăm cu prezentări, proiecții tematice, ateliere practice și în plus, veți avea ocazia de a vedea rezultatele școlii de vară.

Activitățile sunt gratuite, dar necesită înscriere în prealabil.

Am colectat și analizat patru tipuri de pământ local din patru peisaje diferite ale Banatului, în jurul cărora s-au dezvoltat mai multe tehnici tradiționale bănățene: “văiuga” sau cărămida nearsă, pământul bătut, paianta și tencuiala sau “lipitura” de pământ.

Urmează să explorăm potențialul actual al acestor tehnici prin școala de vară REGIO EARTH și evenimentele sale conexe dedicate publicului larg.

Dacă vreți să vedeți cm vom transforma aceste pământuri prin activități creative în centrul Timișoarei, rămâneți aproape!

We are thrilled to announce that registrations are now officially open for the 2026 edition of Regio Earth! Join us from September 1st to 6th for a hands-on exploration of earthen techniques and sustainable design.
