The Athens Metro Line 3 extension to Piraeus, and the opening of the three stations called “Maniatika,” “Piraeus,” and “Dimotiko Theatro”, were announced by the AVAX-Ghella-Alstom consortium on 7 October 2022. The first three stations, “Nikaia,” “Korydallos,” and “Ag. Varvara” had been completed two years earlier. At the opening ceremony, the Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, congratulated all parties involved for completing the project so timely. He pointed out that Greece had set a benchmark for constructing projects similar to this metro, in showing that infrastructure like this can be built whilst still prioritizing cultural heritage. This project will ease traffic congestion in Greece’s largest port and provide a link to Athens International Airport in under an hour.

Ghella’s story has roots that go back to the 19th century.
It begins with Domenico Ghella, born in 1837 near Milan, whose work and travels took him far beyond Italy, at a time when some of the world’s most ambitious infrastructure projects were taking shape.
That early willingness to explore new places, face unfamiliar challenges and learn through experience would become a defining trait of the generations that followed.

🚆😎🍁The Broadway Subway Project in Vancouver is an extension to the existing Millennium Line that will connect VCC-Clark station with a new terminus at Arbutus Street, passing through six new stations and having a length of 5.7 km, with both underground and elevated route sections. Once in operation, the extension to the Millennium Line will provide fast, frequent and convenient SkyTrain service to B.C.’s second largest jobs centre, world-class health services, an emerging innovation and research hub, and growing residential communities. 👷‍♀️🏗️

Ghella presenta una nuova serie di campagne fotografiche commissionate a cinque fotografi italiani in cinque cantieri dell’azienda nel mondo. Un progetto che prosegue il racconto delle grandi infrastrutture come luoghi di trasformazione del paesaggio, delle città e del nostro modo di abitarle.

La prima anteprima è dedicata al lavoro di Paola De Pietri, realizzato lungo il tracciato della linea ad alta velocità Salerno–Reggio Calabria, nel cantiere Battipaglia–Romagnano. La sua campagna attraversa il Cilento, in un’area di grande valore storico e naturalistico riconosciuta anche dall’Unesco, osservando il cantiere come punto di partenza per un’indagine sulla trasformazione continua del paesaggio ad opera sia dell’uomo che della natura.
