Picciano Town Hall
Public Architecture · Picciano (PE), Italy · 2017
The project strengthens the town hall of Picciano against seismic risk and rethinks it as a more open, accessible civic building. A light timber addition, set back from the street front so that the historic view along Via Vittorio Emanuele III remains unchanged, rises above the existing brick structure and opens onto a sunlit south terrace. Its cantilevered brise-soleil, the only element visible from the street, echoes the horizontal texture of the old town and frames a renewed relationship between the building, the landscape and the community. A place of safety and transparency, built on the memory of the town.
