ARCò - Architecture and Cooperation ARCò - Architettura e Cooperazione, carries on design, applied research and construction of sustai

ARCò has been founded by a group of engineers and architects that understand Architecture as the “resolution of contingent problems through an aesthetic interpretation – and so, sensitive – of reality”. Such an approach has led ARCò to find and to contribute with its own skills, the world of International Cooperation in order to face and to solve architectural problems in emergency situations. Sustainability is approached in a social sense by seeking different techniques suitable to the specific sites of action, enabling self-construction processes, in an economic sense through the choice of the building techniques, using recycled and/or recyclable materials, in the environmental sense through the use of renewable energy sources and passive bioclimatic architecture principles. A fundamental goal for every project is the transmission of knowledge and skills through a process of capacity building of techniques and principles which have always been present in the local historical context.

ti propongo questo:

A new issue of Le Carré Bleu dedicated to a theme that feels more urgent than ever: inhabiting peace.

This issue takes a collective approach to exploring peace not as an abstract concept, but as a spatial practice. Through multiple disciplinary, cultural, and territorial perspectives, it examines the role of architecture and design in shaping environments of coexistence, social justice, and shared responsibility.

Architecture, public space, conflict and reconstruction become ways of asking a fundamental question: how can design contribute to creating — or at least imagining — new forms of balance between space, community and society?

A reminder that transforming places is never a neutral act: architecture can divide or connect, exclude or welcome, destroy or rebuild.

The “Tire School” is facing yet another attempt at demolition. While the grave injustices against the Palestinian people and the ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip may make this situation seem minor, the school we designed and built in partnership with the Jahilin Bedouin community and Vento di Terra NGO has been a powerful symbol of resistance and self-determination for many years.

Established in 2009, the school was created despite the restrictions imposed by the Israeli territorial administrative system in the Palestinian territories. Made from 2,000 recycled tyres, earth, and wood, its potential demolition represents yet another instance of urbicide, a systematic effort to eradicate a population. This is a significant injustice, and we cannot remain silent in the face of it.

We extend our gratitude to all the signatories of the letter sent to the United Nations, which you can find at the bottom of this message.
