NEW NURSERY SCHOOL WITHIN THE PII FORMER TABACCO FACTORY - invitation-only competition, winning project

The new school building is designed within a narrow lot, orthogonal to Viale Suzzani and adjacent to the historical renovated building of the former Tabacchi factory. The architectural identity of the project is defined by its pitched roof structures, the rhythm between solid and open elements, and the Via Suzzani façade, characterized by deep entrance recesses and large windows overlooking the patio and gardens.

The internal layout alternates enclosed and open-air spaces, both intended for learning activities, including private educational gardens and a central outdoor classroom. The project responds to the most recent guidelines for school design in the post-COVID era, incentivating stronger connections between indoor and outdoor environments. As a result, more than half of the site area is dedicated to open spaces and gardens.

REINVENTING HERITAGE - lecture with Michele Rossi,

On March 24, 2026, within the course "Architectural Design Studio 2" at the Politecnico di Milano (Prof. Lorenzo Consalez and Nicola Cefis), Michele Rossi, founding partner of PARK, presented "Reinventing Heritage", a research/action project that brings together theoretical reflection and a rich body of adaptive reuse projects carried out by PARK over the past 20 years.
The research resulted in a book, published by Park Books, which combines essays by various scholars with a presentation of the projects in the form of case studies.

RHO SPORTS HALL – public tender, 4th place

The Rho sports center project aims, from a territorial and strategic perspective, to create a landmark capable of bringing together the surrounding community.

The urban scale of the intervention is represented by the sports hall building. The structure’s light framework interacts with the significance of the volume, and the light that filters through the translucent walls of the upper section becomes the visible mark of its civic role.

The nature of the site is characterized by the intersection of different landscapes: the industrial one, the territorial mark of the Lambro riverbed, and the one of the Paolucci village. The project reinterprets them and addresses the design challenges by working on various scales of intervention.

The ground level is designed as a means of blending existing and future activities: the entrance building connects the community hub with the entrance square, blending together its pavement, seating areas, as well as the changing rooms.

NEW PRIMARY SCHOOL IN VIA A. LOCATELLI, BIASSONO (MB) - International school competition, 2nd prize, 2025

The project for the new school complex in Biassono includes the school, a gym, a school courtyard, a square designed for dual use (civic and educational) and a large park to the east. The urban layout enhances the scale of the large urban voids of the town's squares, with a mirrored division between the solid structure of the school and the open space of the park.

The gym is the connecting building between the town and the new primary school. It is a block that is both massive and light, thanks to the filigree of the external metal structure and the light that shines through from the inside. The volume of the changing rooms, set back, creates the main public front of the complex.

The school, with its linear development, has a light and permeable external envelope that redefines the relationship between the building and its surroundings.

If the gym building is the centre of the urban image, the square is the heart of the complex, designed as a meeting place for schoolchildren, athletes and citizens. During school hours, it can be closed and become the exclusive property of the school, but when the gates are opened, it becomes a meeting place, an event venue and a playground for the community.

BORNASCO – a residential complex in the agricultural landscape of the Pavia province

The Bornasco residential complex, designed in collaboration with Enrico Scaramellini Architetto, consists of residential units, a large public square that connects the private apartments to the village, and an L-shaped building containing six housing units and a commercial space.
The neighborhood serves as an extension of an adjacent residential area, mirroring its urban characteristics. It is part of a development plan that responds to the growing demand for housing, driven by its proximity to Milan.
The design idea aimed to express a unified architectural identity simultaneously with a varied and harmonious articulation, in order to avoid the uniformity and monotony typical of many recent developments. This was achieved by incorporating openings, gardens and large terraces, designed as “open-air rooms,” into all the residential units. Each of them has a minimum percentage of 30% of outdoor space, and the maximum height for the buildings is three floors, giving particular importance to the relationship between indoor and outdoor spaces.

A COMMUNITY TO GROW – Milan, via Cenni
International social housing competition: 2nd prize

The project is inspired by the desire to build places that can represent, and perhaps even inspire, a new sense of identity, and symbolically depict a way of life that is more attentive to environmental needs. The layout of the neighbourhood is structured around a hierarchy of open spaces.

The project proposes a strong orientation of the district's public life towards the south, overlooking a street square (woonerf) that serves as main gathering place of the complex and at the same time as the new centrality of the area.

Inside, between the fronts of the houses, a sequence of four green open spaces is the place of the inhabitants' private life.

A linear connection runs from the park of the Torrette farmstead through the rhomboid courtyard of the complex, linking the square of the three towers to a garden to the south, at the edge of the urban gardens.

The bioclimatic functioning of the complex is ensured through a dual strategy, resulting from the analysis of the site's orientation and characteristics. Parts of the building adopt a regenerative approach, with greenhouses that accumulate heat and mediate the temperature exchange with the outside. Other parts pursue a conservative objective, limiting heat exchange with the outside.

The social housing programme, which has experimental objectives, is articulated through a series of extremely simple housing types but with an internal variation that allows flexibility of adaptation both at the time of delivery and throughout the lifespan of the complex.
