LA PALAZZINA SOLIDALE
The palazzina is one of Rome’s most familiar residential types, balancing density, domestic life and open space.
This scene reimagines it as a cooperative and adaptive model for contemporary living.
Private apartments are reduced to what is essential, while shared spaces support care, energy, food and social life.
Roofs, courtyards and ground floors become collective resources, open to new forms of proximity and mutual support.

Our proposal “Roma da Dentro”, developed in partnership with an international multidisciplinary team led by l’AUC, has been awarded Third Prize in the competition for a new vision for Rome 2050. Through the Sei Scene Rigenerative, the proposal identifies six urban situations where precise, local interventions can become prototypes for wider transformation. The ambition is quiet but systemic: to build a shared vision not through one grand gesture, but through a coordinated field of actions capable of multiplying across Rome’s existing fabric.

STRADA NORMALISSIMA

Rome’s streets are not only corridors of movement, but the most frequented public spaces of the city. They are also the primary support of its everyday economy: the ground on which shops, workshops, services and local livelihoods depend.

This scene imagines the street as common ground again: slower, cooler, more porous and more generous.

By rebalancing mobility, shade, vegetation and access, the project strengthens not only public life, but the economic life that unfolds around it. Ground floors reopen, small economies return, and mobility becomes part of a wider choreography of urban life.

GEOGRAFIE COLLETTIVE
Rome is not only built; it is carved, crossed and suspended within a larger geography.
Rivers, valleys, parks, archaeological fragments and open margins already form a hidden structure of the city.
This scene brings that structure back into view, transforming residual landscapes into civic and ecological infrastructure.
Through slow mobility, light interventions and new collective uses, the margins become places of continuity, public life and discovery.
Rome no longer grows against its geography, but begins to recognise it as the foundation of a shared metropolitan future.

RETI DEL SAPERE
Rome already contains a vast landscape of knowledge: universities, research centres, startups and hundreds of thousands of students.
But this energy often remains hidden, fragmented, enclosed within separate institutions.
This scene imagines knowledge as something spatial: a network of places where learning, research and enterprise meet the city.
Underused public buildings become rooms for study, incubation, work and encounter.
Rome becomes a distributed campus, where education is no longer isolated, but woven into the everyday life of the metropolis.

Across Rome, local markets stand as familiar urban figures: present, recognisable, yet often underused.
This scene begins from their latent civic power, transforming them into places of care, exchange and collective life.
Clinics, communal kitchens, cultural rooms and climate shelters can inhabit the same structure, adapting to the needs of each neighborhood.
Rather than building anew, the project listens to what already exists and gives it new intensity.
The market becomes a generative architecture: a daily infrastructure for proximity, resilience and social activation.

NUOVI LUOGHI DI SCAMBIO
Rome’s stations are thresholds: places where thousands arrive, wait, cross and leave each day. Yet around them, the city often dissolves into parking lots, stretches of asphalt and unresolved margins.
This scene reimagines them as renovated gateways: safe, accessible and equipped with services for commuters and local communities.
By lifting cars from the ground, soil is returned to trees, public space and pedestrian continuity. The existing railway network becomes more than mere infrastructure: it becomes the armature of a larger system for metropolitan exchange and encounter. We are pleased to announce that our proposal, developed in partnership with an international multidisciplinary team led by l’AUC, has been awarded Third Prize in the competition for a new vision for Rome 2050.

Our starting point was a simple question: how do you imagine the future of a city where everything already seems built?

For Rome, a city defined by monuments and exceptions, we decided to look at the ordinary.
The project shifts attention away from the idea of a single top-down masterplan and towards the everyday spaces where the city can be reactivated from within: vacant ground floors, residual margins, underused public buildings, station surroundings and overlooked urban fragments.

These spaces may appear minor, but they reveal something fundamental. They are recurring conditions, repeated across the city, and therefore capable of producing impact beyond their individual scale.

Through the Sei Scene Rigenerative, the proposal identifies six urban situations where precise, local interventions can become prototypes for wider transformation.

The ambition is quiet but systemic: to build a shared vision not through one grand gesture, but through a coordinated field of actions capable of multiplying across Rome’s existing fabric.

A Vision from Within proposes a method for rethinking the city from the places where urban life already happens — transforming the ordinary into the basis for a new metropolitan vision.
