Bispebjerg Bakke in Copenhagen’s Nordvest district is, in my opinion, one of the most extraordinary residential developments built in Copenhagen in recent decades.
The project originated in 1997 from a collaboration between Danish artist and sculptor Bjørn Nørgaard .dk [IG] and the Copenhagen Association of Craftsmen. The ambition was to challenge conventional residential construction by bringing art, architecture, and traditional craftsmanship together. Construction took place from 2004 to 2006, with Boldsen & Holm Architects translating Nørgaard’s sculptural ideas into architecture.
