Colour, veining, movement, continuity and balance all contribute to the identity of a slab. But selection is not only about choosing what looks beautiful: it also means understanding how the material will behave visually once it becomes part of a larger surface or project.

Before the block could move, everything had to be prepared.

In the world of marble extraction, lizzatura was the traditional method used to bring large blocks down the mountain before modern vehicles and transport systems existed.

Before the descent began, the marble block was first shaped to make transport easier, then carefully positioned and prepared for the journey downhill.

Supports kept the load raised while the "lizze", long wooden beams, were placed underneath. The blocks were then secured with ropes and cables, ready to be controlled throughout the descent.

It was a process built on preparation, experience and teamwork, where every detail mattered before the marble could start moving down the mountain.

Three days. One shared vision. And many moments to remember.

Furrer Days brought together clients, partners and friends from around the world for a weekend dedicated to what has always been at the heart of our journey: relationships, natural stone and the territory we call home.

From an aperitivo overlooking the Apuan Alps to the art and history of Carrara, from an unforgettable evening among the marble walls of Montemaggiore to the final moments by the sea, every experience gave us the opportunity to share a different side of our world.

But more than the places, what made these days special were the people who experienced them with us.
