Who needs four walls when architecture can bring the outdoors in? 🌿

Meet a residence where living beyond the walls isn’t just a concept; it’s a whole vibe! The striking stone-clad facade adds earthy character, while clean geometric volumes, sleek glazing, and bold cantilevered roofs keep things effortlessly contemporary.

Warm wooden accents soften the modern exterior, creating the perfect balance between raw textures and refined details. 🌤️ From the lush landscape to the open pavilion, every element celebrates natural light, breezy spaces, and a seamless indoor-outdoor connection.

Basically, nature called… and this home answered! 😉 What’s your favourite detail? Drop it below! 👇

What if the most powerful design statement is simply letting materials speak for themselves?

Concrete doesn’t pretend. It reveals its texture, strength, imperfections, and process—shaping spaces while giving light and shadow a place to perform.

For us, every material has a voice. Design begins by listening—to availability, craftsmanship, cost, maintenance, context, and how a surface will age.

Concrete can quietly frame people and landscapes or become a bold sculptural statement. The difference lies in how thoughtfully it is used.

Because great architecture doesn’t hide how it is made—it celebrates it.

24 years. One city. Countless lessons in architecture.

For us, Surat has never been just a place to practise architecture it has been our constant teacher. Its entrepreneurial spirit, cultural diversity, evolving identity, and people have shaped the way we design.

From Gopi Talao and Dumas Vibrant Walkway to Water Plaza and Sayedpura Market Precinct, every project reinforced one belief: meaningful architecture doesn’t always need to be monumental.

It needs to understand people, climate, context, resources, and aspirations.

Because sustainability is not a certification it is a responsibility to place.

Good architecture doesn’t just create landmarks. It creates better everyday experiences.

What has your city taught you? Tell us below.

Can art change the way we experience a place?

Our paper, “Art by Kilo: Negotiating Value and Meaning in the Public Realm,” authored by Prof. & Ar. Vishal Shah and Ar. Prakruti Ramchandra , was selected for presentation at the Art in Public Landscape National Conference, organised by Zinnov Foundation.

Presented by Ar. Prakruti Ramchandra at BMSSA, Bangalore, the paper emerged from AARI — Aangan’s Research Initiative, reflecting our ongoing pursuit of research-led design.

Through this work, we explore the relationship between art, architecture, value, and public space, bringing observations from practice into a larger academic discourse.

for us, is more than a material. It is a way of thinking.

From Oojas to Chitrakut, Harshaangan to Bilva, brick has evolved through structure, pattern, colour, texture, light, and craft. At Oojas, the bricklayer’s wisdom unlocked a structural possibility. At Chitrakut, brick moved into the interiors. At Harshaangan, its natural colour variations shaped the garden edge. At Bilva, its modularity created jalis and arches that balance mass, light, and scale.

For us, innovation begins by understanding what a material can already do.

Because true innovation is rooted in context, craft, and place.

Where architecture meets the landscape.

Not placed within nature.
Designed around it.

At Songadh, Gujarat, the Sports Villa rises lightly above the terrain creating a retreat where the built form, landscape and views come together as one experience.

The architecture opens itself to its surroundings, allowing the changing landscape to shape the way the spaces are experienced.

A place to pause.
A place to connect.
A place to experience nature differently.

Architecture here is conceived not merely as a structure, but as a journey through space, ritual and nature.

Set within a lush landscape along the Tapi River, the Kamrej Crematorium responds to its context by working with the existing terrain, trees, water and natural character of the site. The design unfolds as a carefully choreographed sequence—from arrival and procession to ritual, reflection and release—allowing movement itself to become part of the experience.

The Panch Mahabhut—Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Sky—forms an underlying spatial narrative. Local stone, brick, water channels, open courtyards, filtered light and expansive skies translate these elements into tangible architectural experiences.

For Aangan, the project reflects an approach rooted in research, context, culture and material honesty. Rather than imposing architecture on the landscape, the intervention seeks continuity between the built and the natural—creating spaces that are quiet, dignified and deeply connected to place.

A place to pause.
A place to remember.
A place to return to nature.

Designing for people, purpose and everyday public life.
The Jan Seva Kendra & Urban Health Centre, Surat explores how public architecture can balance complexity with clarity. With a programme of 58 departments, alongside healthcare and supporting amenities, the project brings together diverse functions within a cohesive spatial experience.

At Aangan, the intent is to move beyond simply accommodating functions to create spaces that are accessible, intuitive and human-centred. Courtyards, shaded thresholds, carefully framed entrances, natural light and material expression come together to create a civic environment rooted in dignity and belonging.

Architecture here is not just about what a building houses, but how it serves the people who use it.

The best spaces don’t just look beautiful they understand the people within them.

At Aangan, our design process begins with people, not plans. We take time to understand how individuals live, work, interact, and move through their everyday environments. From functional requirements to subtle habits and unspoken needs, every insight helps shape the design. This approach allows us to create architecture that feels intuitive, purposeful, and personal. Because true design isn’t about following a particular style it’s about creating spaces that respond to the lives they hold, evolve with their users, and feel naturally their own.
