PM Surya Ghar 2.0 may be less about adding more rooftop solar & more about making rooftop solar work smarter.
As PMSuryaGharYojana accelerates rooftop solar adoption, the next challenge is no longer just generating more electricity. It is about when that electricity is generated, when it is consumed, and how the grid manages the difference.
Today, most residential systems are grid-tied. Solar generation peaks during the day, while household demand continues into the evening. As adoption scales, hybrid inverters, battery storage, load shifting, AC coupling and eventually Virtual Power Plant (VPP) models are becoming increasingly relevant.
For consumers, this means greater energy flexibility and backup. For DISCOMs, it can mean better management of distributed generation. And for the industry, it means designing systems that are storage-ready, flexible and capable of evolving with the grid.
