The earth
Earth is built in distinct layers, each shaped by immense heat and pressure. Beneath the thin crust lie the upper mantle, transition zone, and lower mantle. Deeper still, the liquid outer core generates Earth’s magnetic field, while the solid inner core reaches the planet’s center, 6,371 kilometers below the surface.
