Pattachitra craft of Odisha - Hand painted Pattachitra Saree with ‘Shringar Rasa’ theme.

Shringar Ras is one of the Navarasas (nine emotions) mentioned in the Natyashastra, and often seen in the Odissi classical dance. It originates from the concept of decoration, adornment, and beautification to please and attract the beloved.
Here in this saree, figurines of women preparing for a meeting, have been depicted through intricate, detailed hand-painting on the pallu and border of the saree.

This saree has been hand-painted by the women artisans from Puri district of Odisha.

Hand painted Pattachitra Saree with 'Boita Bandana' (Ceremonial farewell to the merchant ship)Theme - Boita Bandana is a popular Odia theme related to the glorious maritime past of Odisha (also known as Kalinga) when merchants and traders sailed to faraway lands such as Bali, Sumatra and Java .
