Innocence suffers in Violence...

It is the children who die,
When bombs are launched, when grenades are thrown,
When bullets are fired, when pistols are shot,
It makes no difference to you and me,

We sit back in our chairs, drawing lines across maps,
Formulating new strategies, designing new traps,
When we announce our call,
The soldiers stand tall,
Blood to the earth does fall,
Of the baby who was learning to crawl.
It makes no difference to you and me,
It is the children who die.

As the Corona Virus pandemic engulfs the world, crossing borders and entering the homes of millions, it has taken with it the lives of many and the livelihood of most spreading anxiety, fear, and unrest along with sickness. Bringing entire nations to a complete standstill and impacting the lives of every single individual through its looming presence.

And yet, while we sit sheltered within the comfort of the four walls of our homes, there are those essential workers including medical professionals, who are risking their lives right at the battlefront to fight this disease. There also those daily wage workers and marginalized communities who are facing the brunt of the nationwide lockdown and loss of livelihood.

I want to use my passion for painting, by selling my artworks to raise funds for charity and do my part in fighting Corona Virus. I request you to support this initiative and do your part to help fight COVID-19.

The Soldier

A representation of the struggles of a soldier, of their agony anguish and affliction. It is a portrayal of the treasured memory of his 5 year old daughter when he was just drafted into the army, now distant and fading like an old photograph. His angel, the love of his life, is growing up into a young woman on the other side of the country and he misses out on her childhood for our safety.

The Training

Soldiers train with discipline and dedication, with distinct punctuality, precision, potency, and perfection. A series of arduous exercises, synchronized marches developing stamina, strength, and focus, these soldiers immerse themselves into their job.

Artwork is made using the technique of Intaglio printmaking in which the image is etched onto an acrylic sheet, onto which the ink is rubbed. A dampened sheet of paper is pressed onto it, to help transfer the ink onto the sheet.
