🥚 Egg ➡️ Beginning as a small, quiet egg; full of hope.
🐛 Caterpillar ➡️ Eats & grows & prepares for something much larger than themself.
🛌 Pupa ➡️ Rests inside a cocoon. No one sees the change that's happening.
🦋 Butterfly ➡️ Spreads wings & flies away from everything they have happening.

Just like a butterfly, so too do you start small.
You grow, struggle, then rest...
Until eventually you rise up, & can become something amazing.

At Shivmudra CHSL Butterfly & Bees Garden – Vikhroli, a simple society space was transformed into something alive and beautiful. What was once just another patch in busy Mumbai is now a home for butterflies, flowers, and quiet moments of wonder.

In cities filled with concrete, these little green pockets matter. They give pollinators a place to rest and feed. They help nature find its way back.

And here, you can actually witness magic unfold —
Egg → Caterpillar → Pupa → Butterfly.
A gentle reminder that growth needs care, patience, and the right environment.

A heartfelt appreciation to the residents of Shivmudra CHSL for choosing biodiversity over bare space. 🌱

A Butterfly's Journey,
Native plants bring butterflies from no butterflies to lots of butterflies. 🦋🌿

There are now butterflies everywhere in our Shivmudra Society Butterfly Garden in Vikhroli. Where there was once just bare ground, we created another small ecosystem by creating a new native plant environment of flowering plants for butterflies and providing real biodiversity.

One of the perks of this butterfly garden is that it's not only aesthetically pleasing, but it is also an asset to the community. Children stop to watch the butterflies. Residents have fresh blooming flowers every day of the week. This area is an alive space.

This is how we create gardens in our cities by bringing nature back into them, one garden at a time.

A Monumental Loss for Nature’s Guardians.🌿

Today, we at BreathingRoots mourn the passing of a true pioneer, Sir Madhav Gadgil.
A UN 'Champion of the Earth', his life was a masterclass in how to protect India’s Biodiversity while empowering the local communities that live within it.

His seminal work on the Western Ghats continues to be the North Star for ecological conservation in India. At BreathingRoots, we carry forward his vision by striving to restore balance to our ecosystems, one garden at a time.

Rest in peace, Sir. Your roots will continue to nourish the movement for a greener India. 🕊️🇮🇳
