MYTH: Brighter lighting creates better spaces.

In reality, excessive illumination often flattens materiality, removes contrast, and leaves little room for atmosphere.

Good lighting isn’t about maximising brightness. It’s about creating hierarchy; knowing where light should arrive, and where it should intentionally stay absent.

Lighting is often experienced emotionally but designed technically.

A visible glare, an uneven wall wash, poorly controlled shadows, or the wrong colour temperature can completely alter how a material, and ultimately a space, is perceived. Often, the difference between illumination and atmosphere lies in details that are barely noticed consciously yet felt immediately.

The details may be small. Their impact rarely is.
