The architecture is formed within the terrain.
Rocks act as anchors, grounding spaces physically and emotionally, while water becomes a connective tissue, guiding movement, framing views, and slowing the pace
of inhabitation.

The house sits low and unobtrusive, prioritising experience over form and immersion over monumentality.

Between Rock, Rain, and Forest is a project where the structure grows from what already exists.

Spaces are gently carved into the terrain, where stone holds you and grounds you, water moves beside you, and light shifts through the day. The structure sits low and grounded, opening slowly toward quieter, more intimate corners. Streams pass through the house, carrying sound and calm, shaping how one moves through and inhabits each space. This project unfolds through time and seasons where everyday moments stay close to the rhythm of the landscape.

Myco Relics

As the mycelium components gradually return to the earth, restoration takes the form of regrowth rather than repair. The terracotta gabion foundation at the base acts as a scaffold for vegetation to take hold, allowing each relic to function as a self-contained micro-ecosystem.

We’re working toward a circular way of building with a goal to restore as much as we take from the planet.

Many first encountered our work through MycoBlox: a 1.5 kg block capable of holding 1.5 tonnes in compressive loads. And many stayed because they believe building can be gentler on the planet.

The block was never the end goal. It was the beginning of a larger conversation about regenerative practices, about systems rather than objects, about building with mycelium
composites where fabrication gives way to cultivation, and time becomes part of the structure itself.

This year, we’ve returned to process. Back to the drawing board, back to the workshop and back to the lab. We’re Testing. Growing. Learning.

We’re beginning this year with Grown Relics, ephemeral landscape forms for rest and inhabitation. They sit somewhere between object and architecture.
Between monument and ecosystem.

As part of the 24 Walls of Public Life, we were invited to create a 2.4 × 4.8 m piece that reimagines how the outside of buildings can feel. This year’s themed Radically More Human, led by Thomas Heatherwick, builds on the campaign: a call to move away from sterile, forgettable buildings toward architecture that is joyful, tactile, and emotionally present.

The installation stands in front of the big Humanise Wall designed by

A small fragment imagining a city where buildings are living, textured, and deeply alive.

The Details

The wooden frame is where this project began, not as a skeleton, but as a quiet agreement between structure and the grown material. The rhythm of the joinery draws from traditional hanok construction, where wood holds space through balance rather than force. This wall stands because many hands cared for it. .bio and team.

Thank you to the construction team and , and to for shaping the context that allowed this work to grow.

Special thanks to and the SMG team

Seoul Biennale Opening Days · Part 3

What makes the 5th Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism truly special are the people and their interaction with the wall at Songhyeon Green Plaza.

The insides of buildings may touch a few lives, but designing for the outside brings people together.
Through Humanise , we’ve learned that architecture can move us when it invites connection and when it’s built not just to be seen, but to be felt, shared, and remembered.
This wall made from 🍄 was meant to be touched, smelt, and experienced.

Thank you
