When we started our journey at Graduate Farmer we did not begin with technology. We began with conversations. We went to villages, sat with farmers and tried to understand their real challenges โ the problems they face every single day. High cost of equipment, lack of access to simple tools, and technologies that look good on paper but are too complex to use in reality. That is where we realised something very important โ farmers donโt need complicated innovation, they need practical solutions.
Today, many startups are developing IoT systems for agriculture and talking about AI integration. Yes, we are also moving in that direction. But not from Day 1. Because technology should not confuse farmers, it should empower them. It should be something they can adopt without hesitation, without fear, and without needing heavy investment.
That is why we focused on building a semi-automatic incubator machine. Before building, we asked ourselves one simple question โ what is the real purpose of an incubator? It is not about adding unnecessary features or making it complex. The real purpose is simple: better hatching capability and good quality chicks. If this goal is achieved, then the machine has already created value.
In the market, a 1000-capacity incubator can cost more than โน1 lakh. But for a rural farmer, this is not affordable. So what we did is we built our own incubator at just โน30,000 โ developed by our own people, designed for real usage, simple to operate, and easy to maintain. Because if a farmer cannot use it easily, then even the best technology has no value.
What we have observed is powerful. A single incubator machine, when placed in a village, can change the entire local ecosystem. Farmers no longer need to depend on external chick supply. They can hatch their own chicks, improve quality, reduce cost, and even create a small business within the village. One machine can create multiple opportunities.
So what are we doing right now? We are building solutions from the ground level. Step by step, we will integrate IoT for monitoring, and in the future, we will bring AI. But always in a way that is farmer-friendly, affordable, and practical.
