In view of the incessant downpour in the valley & amid forecast of Meteorological Department about heavy spell of rain, all the fringe communities of district kulgam are advised to stay indoors or at safer places and keep their livestock housed till the weather improves as a precaution to avert any mishap .The message is for the forest fringe communities in general & in particular for those who are stationed near the catchments of the rivers & vulnerable locations/ landslide prone areas of kulgam district.

July 6, An introductory meeting was convened by worthy DFO Kulgam which was attended by Range Forest Officers & Block Forest Officers. During the meeting , among other issues, forest protection which is a prime mandate of the forest department was deliberated upon threadbare. The chair accentuated to reinforce the protection mechanism to husband forests for sustainable development. The chair further outscored to properly mobilize forest manpower for ensuring best protection of territorial forests of Forest Division Kulgam. Besides, the chair galvanized the officers cm officials to develop better association with fringe communities and address their concerns so that they can equally reciprocate during exigencies. The meeting concluded with vote of thanks to the chair.

July 3, A formal charge handover/takeover ceremony was held today at the Office of the Divisional Forest Officer, Kulgam Forest Division.

Mr. Mohammad Ashraf Kutoo, ACF relinquished the charge of Divisional Forest Officer, Kulgam on his transfer. Mrs.Shamma Roohi, ACF assumed charge as the new Divisional Forest Officer, Kulgam.
All Range Officers, Block Forest Officers and field staff of the Division were present on the occasion.
During his tenure, Mr. Mohammad Ashraf Kutoo was highly appreciated for his efforts in forest protection, plantation under CAMPA, eviction of encroachments, and strengthening field supervision. Staff bid him a warm farewell and wished him success in his future assignment.
Mrs.Shamma Roohi, ACF, on assuming charge, assured that protection of forests, prevention of encroachment, and public grievance redressal would remain her top priorities. She sought cooperation from all officers and officials for effective management of Kulgam Forest Division.

June 29, Range DH Pora bid adieu to Sh. Farooq Ahmad Sheikh- Sr. Forester, a veteran, dedicated, sincere and able forest officer on attaining superannuation from Government services. The services of the officer were highly appreciated by DFO Kulgam and other officers present on the occasion. It is worth to mention here the services of the officer in the department shall truly be remembered.
One more veteran official Sh. Mohammad Maqbool Khanday of Range Veshew also attained superannuation from Government services. Wishing both the employees happy & peaceful post retirement life!

June 18, In a major push towards evaluating forest regeneration and ensuring robust environmental conservation, the Divisional Forest Officer Kulgam conducted a comprehensive field inspection of the Safamarg CAMPA Closure.
The DFO was accompanied by Range Officer DH Pora and Range Officer Veshew, alongside dedicated field staff. DFO Kulgam showed pleasure over the survival percentage of closure & appreciated the efforts of the local field staff, particularly Sh. Farooq Ahmad Sheikh-Forester. The officer directed the field staff for proper surveillance & protection of closure to ensure the Safamarg site transitions into a dense, sustainable green canopy.
