Avoid these 5 critical mistakes during RCC column casting to protect your building's structural strength:

Missing Cover Blocks: Never skip cover blocks. Without them, reinforcement steel directly touches the outer edge, triggering early corrosion and rust.

Excessive Free Fall of Concrete: Dropping wet mix from heights greater than 1.5 meters causes segregation, separating coarse aggregates from the cement paste.

Improper Compaction: Skipping the needle vi****or leaves hidden air pockets, resulting in severe honeycombing inside the structural core.

Leaky Shuttering & Poor Alignment: Loose formwork allows vital cement slurry to bleed out. Always seal joints tightly and verify verticality using a plumb bob.

Skipping Water Curing: Never strip formwork prematurely before 24 hours. Wrap columns with wet hessian (gunny bags) and maintain continuous curing for at least 10 to 14 days.
