reminiscing_history Bringing ruins to life through digital art. Reimagining lost monuments with research, memory, and imagination. by Parnavi Bangar

Reminiscing History is a digital art series that brings old ruins back to life founded by Ar. Parnavi Bangar. Through research-based illustrations, we reimagine how destroyed monuments once looked. From Hampi to Angkor Wat, our work revives forgotten heritage and sparks curiosity about history. Each piece is rooted in real evidence and aims to add meaning, beauty, and memory to what time has taken away.

Sarnath has officially been inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site!
A well deserved recognition.

The place where Gautam Buddha delivered his first sermon and where the Buddhist Sangha was first formed. Home to ancient monasteries, stupas, remarkable sculptures, the Ashokan Pillar, and centuries of archaeological treasures, Sarnath stands as one of the world's most significant Buddhist sites. Its art, architecture, and history continue to inspire us across generations.

A place we've had the chance of reimagining through our illustrations! Find more about these illustrations on our website.

Cave paintings in Hampi:

Hidden among the boulders of Hampi lies a history far older than its temples. Long before the rise of the Vijayanagara Empire, Hampi was inhabited by humans across multiple ages, from the Stone Age to the Neolithic period, and the evidence still survives in its rock shelters.

Scattered across sites near Pampa Sarovar, Chakratirtha and the hill opposite the Balakrishna Temple are prehistoric rock paintings believed to be thousands of years old. Made using mineral pigments, especially red ochre created from iron-rich earth and natural binders, these single-line paintings depict birds, bulls, deer, fish, snakes, dancing humans, rituals, and everyday life.

Hampi is not just a medieval landscape of ruins. It has been a living human landscape for thousands of years, carrying stories from some of the earliest communities who once called this place home.
