A miniature that captures the spirit of a hillside neighbourhood imagined as a place of quiet living. The settlement gently follows the natural contours, forming small clusters of homes connected by shared pathways, courtyards and terraces. Rather than standing apart from nature, the architecture becomes part of the landscape — allowing moments of solitude, slow walks, and everyday interactions to shape a peaceful and inclusive community. More than a resort, it is envisioned as a home within nature.

Vriksha Saar Studio is shaped by collaboration, curiosity, and craft. A space where ideas evolve through conversations, sketches, models, and shared exploration. More than a workplace, it nurtures a culture of learning, questioning, and making architecture together. 🌿

Designing a house for a friend is always special.
Designing a house for a fellow architect is something else altogether.

This project has slowly turned into a shared journey — of conversations, decisions, doubts and discoveries. As architects, we often find ourselves instinctively documenting our sites — fragments of light, unfinished surfaces, emerging details — moments that quietly narrate the making of architecture.
For us, site photography is not just record-keeping. It is a pure form of documentation — of design evolving into built form, of drawings negotiating with reality, of material finding its voice.
Recently, invited , the architectural photographer for this project, to document the site. His lens captured what we often feel but rarely articulate — the rawness of the unfinished structure, the brutality of exposed surfaces, and the poetry of light falling on naked walls.
Architecture is not only what is finished.
Sometimes, it is most honest while it is still becoming.

Competition Entry-
The Kargil Engineering College, Leh is an institutional project spanning around 43 acres, seamlessly integrating traditional village concepts with modern design. Nestled in a high-altitude terrain with a 70-meter level difference, the campus focuses on maximising sunlight exposure for natural heating. Employing double-skin walls, the design optimises energy efficiency by absorbing and gradually releasing solar heat. The architectural ethos marries local vernacular practices with contemporary elements, creating a distinctive aesthetic that pays homage to the region’s heritage.

Nothing but a cozy winter morning at our studio, with our ever-irritating lead architect caught poring over his sketches, tea in hand.

As a design professional, being part of academia is both inspiring and fulfilling. Guiding young minds and witnessing their creativity take shape is truly rewarding. This exhibition, beautifully curated by the postgraduate students of TDV, showcases the culmination of our studio journey — an exploration of ideas, innovation, and design thinking. It’s been a privilege to conduct this studio and celebrate the remarkable work of our students.

The humble Fadiya — more than just a passage.
In traditional Indian homes, the Fadiya connects the indoors and outdoors — a shaded threshold where wind, light, and people flow together. It’s where mornings begin with chai, and evenings slow down with conversations.

At our studio, we’ve reintroduced this timeless idea in a few select apartments — creating spaces that breathe, filter the sun, and invite community back into modern living.

Because good design doesn’t just shelter, it connects 🌿
