Sensuality. In recent times I may have talked about it more often that I'd care to. My peers and friends in the profession may perceive me as someone with a leaning towards technical robustness and engineering. But when design is in my mind, I'm an artist. This door was designed with me being adamant that it will not have projecting handles. So when I stuck up on the design, it was all sensuality. The handles of the door are 'within' it. The interaction with the door is intimate. Its like caressing through the hair strands of a loved one, with your fingers. Design is about engaging with the person, up close and personal. That's the other side of engineering, concrete and steel. Here....I'm in a state of exaltation. 'I do both' is not a choice. One doesn't exist without the other

The pergola is probably the oldest design element. Light and shadow always captures human attention. There's something primordial about it. The most iconic designs are super simple geometry, but hit a sweet spot in proportions. But I'll talk about it in terms of my old theory - space. This arch defines a certain space. Well, the first time ever, I've used AI to generate graphics and it gives me a very uneasy feeling, unable to adjust to the fact that this image took 2 prompts. All my graphics are conceptualised and composed by me, sometimes I've even done it with hand drawn images. But this is unsettling. Yet to think of it, this was what people thought of digital art (when photoshop and such tools came into being). Anyways, as the adage in Tamil 'Pazhayana kazhithalum, puthiyana puguthalum...', suggests, (meaning, 'to discard the old and usher in the new' harvest), used to describe Boghi to Pongal, I also as an explorer, will embrace the new (yet maybe not discard all the old, hand drawn art and imagined architecture from 'natural intelligence/intuition' will always be my thing) - HAPPY PONGAL
