I am honoured to have had the opportunity to meet Dr. Raj Bhushan Choudhary, Hon’ble Minister of State for Jal Shakti, Government of India, in New Delhi.

During the meeting, I had the opportunity to share our thoughts on the possibilities of using Geospatial Technology, UAV/Drone Survey, LiDAR, DGPS, GIS, Remote Sensing, Photogrammetry and Bathymetry to support India’s long-term water-resource management.

My belief is that India’s rivers should not be viewed as isolated water bodies. With modern geospatial technology, we can create an integrated understanding of the river, tributaries, reservoirs, groundwater, catchment, floodplain, wetlands, agriculture and surrounding infrastructure.

A future National River Geospatial & Water Security Platform could potentially provide decision-makers with a comprehensive digital picture of our water resources and support scientifically informed planning.

The Government of India is already pursuing important initiatives in water conservation, river rejuvenation, groundwater management and river interlinking. Recent Ministry initiatives have also emphasised data-driven governance, advanced hydrological monitoring and digital dashboards for water-resource management.

I sincerely thank Hon’ble Minister Dr. Raj Bhushan Choudhary for the opportunity to meet and share these thoughts.

It was a pleasure and privilege to welcome Dr. N. Parasuraman, Principal Scientist, M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF), along with Mr. Moyison and Mr. Jonas, to MAPe IT Solutions.
