We get this question A LOT. Honestly? There's no one right answer — 1st of all , it depends on your plot size, family size, and how you want to use your space, also budget.

Duplex = more privacy between floors, great for joint families or rental income, also gives your children or parents their own private spaces. More space on smaller land

Independent house = more open, more flexible for future changes. generally cheaper and faster to construct because you don't need heavy structural slabs for an upper floor.
