SDeG SDeG (Sujit Nair Design Group) was founded in 2007 and is currently involved in projects of varied types and scales.

The practice is interested in the many possibilities that emerge from complex urban flows and shifts in culture, politics, socio-economic patterns, belief systems and capital, resulting in an Architecture of wide-ranging circumstances. By aiming to be consistently experimental and switching tactics swiftly, design can be liberated from predetermined and preservationist notions – SDeG believes in an architecture of overlapping attitudes, technologies and techniques, that respond to fluid project situations and contemporary urban transformations.

Yaakay is designed as a kit of parts-a “space-kit” composed of finely detailed, modular elements. Each component functions as a standalone entity that can be assembled into a complete system, reconfigured as needed, and deployed in any location.

YAAKAY was designed to feel like a restored and refurbished courtyard villa (on a large terrace of a commercial building), with a collection of rooms, verandas, corridors and moods. When fully occupied, it feels like a large social gathering rather than a conventional modern-day bar. In many ways, it recalls the ‘area’ bars of the 80’s and 90’s, dimly-lit, energetic, noisy , deeply social, unpretentious and comforting in their simplicity.

YAAKAY occupies the rooftop of a commercial building, while its twin, MYSORE DINING HALL, sits on the adjacent site, closer to the street. Though shaped by two distinct settings, both are bound by the same spirit of gathering and informality—the easy familiarity of an old-school bar and a neighbourhood khanavali.

A cluster of four bars at Solarium City —
A syntactic clash, and a search for cohesiveness when distinct brands for the BYG Group are situated beside each other ( including Jollygung, Bob's Bar, Big Brewski).
An ode to James Stirling and his typological play at the Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin (WZB), where he famously said:
“We’ll have one of each.”

Tucked against the existing parking level and just below the podium, the bars are carefully engineered to weave into the existing infrastructure — allowing four distinct identities to emerge from a tightly constrained site.

Four distinct identities collide within one constrained site.

Four bars, woven into one existing urban infrastructure.

Cohesion through collision — distinct identities, one collective.

A new commercial workspace for Whitefield -
Exploring precast construction—not just as structure, but as architecture. The façade ‘barrels’ are conceived as precast elements, softening the building edge and bringing a more fluid expression to an otherwise rational structural grid.

Six towers. Each conceived as a pinwheel of four corner apartments around a single core. A triple-height sky amenity bridges one pair of towers, introducing a shared destination high above the ground.

Beneath the Parasol
Located in the heart of Kalaburagi, a hot, semi-arid city in northern Karnataka, our design explores the possibilities for outdoor living as a viable condition within an otherwise harsh climate. The house is organized beneath and upon a walkable parasol that produces deep, continuous shade, regulating both light and temperature, establishing a controlled threshold between indoors and outdoors.
