ASK THE ARCHITECT — the questions you’ve always wanted to ask. 👀

Vastu. Windows. China sourcing.
Three very different questions, but one thing they have in common — there’s rarely a one-size-fits-all answer in architecture.

We’re answering the questions clients, friends and even other architects ask us behind the scenes.

And we’re heading to China again soon. 🇨🇳

So tell us — what have you always wanted to ask an architect but never did?

Drop your question in the comments.
The more controversial, practical or oddly specific, the better. 👇

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A DESIGN LEAVES THE SCREEN AND ENTERS THE SITE?

We’re taking you behind the scenes of the MGH Experience Centre — from an ongoing site visit to the spaces we’ve envisioned for the final experience.

This is Part One of the journey: seeing the structure, materials and spatial ideas begin to take shape.

The renders show the destination.
The site shows the journey.

And we’re only getting started.

Follow along for Part Two — where we get deeper into the design, details and transformation.

China is no longer just a sourcing destination. It’s a world of bespoke furniture, exceptional craftsmanship and limitless customisation.

For us, Foshan has become an important part of that journey — from discovering exceptional factories and showrooms to developing pieces specifically for our projects.

Over time, we’ve built our own shortlist of factories and stores we genuinely recommend — places we trust for their design, craftsmanship, finishes and ability to bring an idea to life.

So we’re sharing a little of our Foshan sourcing playbook.

Want our favourites?
Comment “CHINA” below and we’ll share the list.

Save this for when you’re planning your next furniture sourcing trip. 🇨🇳

Sometimes, the most important design lesson doesn’t come from a drawing.

It comes from a client.

As architects, we move from one project to the next. But for our clients, this is often the only home they’ll ever build. Every “Can we add this too?” comes from years of dreaming—not indecision.

The real challenge isn’t fitting in every idea.

It’s helping people understand what will matter long after the excitement of a new project fades.

Have you ever found yourself wanting to include “everything” in your dream home? We’d love to know what your one non-negotiable would be. 👇

Every brand has a story behind its name.

So do we.

For years, people have assumed they knew what OAK stood for.

Some were close.

But not quite.

The answer isn’t on our website.

It isn’t in our logo.

It’s hidden in the way we think about design—and every project we’ve ever created.

The last few slides reveal what OAK has meant to us from the very beginning.

Did you guess it before the reveal?

And once you reach the end...

Tell us: Should architects be known for a signature style, or should every project have its own identity?

GEOMETRY AS EXPERIENCE
PART 3/3 — THE TRIANGLE

What if geometry could influence the way you move?

The Triangle Floor introduces a new rhythm to the journey. Angular display niches, textured surfaces, and integrated lighting create moments of discovery, encouraging visitors to explore from one perspective to the next.

Every angle frames a different view.

Every turn reveals something unexpected.

Movement becomes part of the design.

Three floors.

Three geometries.

One philosophy—design every experience with intention.

Which geometry would you choose to experience first—Lines, Hexagon, or Triangle?

Most people would hide this column. We did the opposite.

Every home has constraints. Great design isn’t about hiding them—it’s about making them work beautifully.

In this project, an unavoidable column became a planter that subtly defines the living and dining spaces while keeping the home open, bright, and visually connected.

Sometimes, the best design decisions come from working with the space, not against it.

👇 What would you have done?
A. Hide the column
B. Make it a feature like this

Comment A or B below.

📌 Save this idea for your future home and share it with someone who’s planning to build or renovate.

GEOMETRY AS EXPERIENCE
PART 2/3 — THE HEXAGON

Some geometries connect spaces. Others create experiences.

Inspired by one of nature’s most efficient forms, the Hexagon Floor is built around continuity. Sculpted display walls, shelving, textured finishes and custom ceiling tracks all follow the same geometric language, creating a seamless relationship between architecture and display.

The geometry isn’t repeated for effect.

It’s repeated to create rhythm.

A space where every detail feels like it belongs.

👀 How many hexagons can you spot before someone points them out?
