The Legislative Assembly Building in Haut-Katanga is conceived as a civic landmark where geometry and purpose come together. Its circular central chamber anchors the composition, while the radial roof structure gives the building a distinct architectural identity.

Inside, timber-lined surfaces, natural light and carefully framed spaces create warmth within an institutional setting. With Vatsal Joshi as Principal Architect, the project explores proportion, material and civic presence.

Mr. Vatsal Chaitanya Joshi, Director, Associated Architects, joins an eminent panel at ET Realty & Beyond, Ahmedabad to discuss the forces shaping the city’s next chapter—emerging residential corridors, high-rise living and climate-responsive design.

With his leadership roles in both the Indian Institute of Architects and the Institute of Indian Interior Designers, Mr. Joshi brings a valuable cross-disciplinary perspective to the conversation — connecting architecture, interior design and the larger built environment to better understand how our cities can evolve with greater sensitivity, functionality and sustainability.

As Ahmedabad continues to transform, conversations around context, design, sustainability and responsible urban growth become increasingly important.

Behind the Legislative Assembly is a process shaped by engineering decisions, technical evaluations, material studies and continuous coordination across teams, consultants and countries.

Some challenges unfolded on site. Others were resolved months before construction began. Each decision had one objective: preserve the architectural intent while responding to the realities of ex*****on.

Here’s a question. What does a studio full of architects do when the lights go out?

Most teams would probably call it a day.

At AAPL, all 55 members headed to the nearest project site.

What followed was an hour of observing, discussing and discovering details that often escape the first glance.

Somewhere along the way, someone suggested turning it into a photography contest.

The idea spread quickly.

What began as an unexpected interruption became an opportunity to slow down, look closer and experience the project from a different perspective.

Congratulations to Tanmay, whose photograph captured that spirit best.

We have been working in Africa for the last decade and it has been very rewarding to setup a new set of systems that has helped our studio adapt to different working patterns and people across the borders. Here is a glimpse into our monthly visit to Kolwezi and Lubumbashi in DRC.

It was a special moment to spot a couple of our projects from the skies, President’s Office and The Governor’s Office in Kolwezi.

Updates on upcoming and recently completed projects include a 33,350 Sq. Ft. Office for CNSS, Kolwezi, Bellevue School, a 34,750 Sq. Ft. School in Lubumbashi (Phase 1), BNB Staff Quarters and a Hotel in Lubumbashi.

This team is led by .vtar1505, who has built resilient working systems in the studio to keep these projects running at optimum efficiency. Kudos to team Africa.

Dinbandhu Hospital in Kamrej, Surat came to us with a mission to unleash the potential their space had, which had been ruined over years due to the lack of maintainance. Instead of redesigning, we decided to adapt to the space and reveal what it had to offer. Natural ventilation, ample amount of sunlight and relocating spaces for efficient planning made all the difference.
