Tuesday, October 27, is election day in Israel.

Whichever candidate you support, go vote. It’s one of the few days each year when every voice counts equally.

See you at the polls 🗳️

Hot take: SOAR isn’t dead, but the "write a playbook for everything" idea kind of is.

Attackers using AI don’t repeat the same steps.

Your playbook has no branch for that. And the average breakout is 29 min now, so nobody’s catching it by hand either

We wrote about it

Is it an AI incident, or an agentic one? 🤔

It sounds like a word game, but once something goes wrong, that label determines what evidence you collect, what you tell your insurer, and whether your incident response contract covers you.

Our IR practitioners use a simple three-question test in real cases. Watch the video for the quick version, and read the full article for the real cases, the evidence you need to keep from minute one, and where the standards bodies stand today:

Your incident response plan probably includes pages for ransomware, phishing, and insider threats. But what happens when the incident starts with your own AI agent?

Picture an agent with too many permissions that gets a vague instruction and deletes a production database.

There’s no attacker, no malware, and nothing to alert on. And as insurers start adding AI exclusions to their policies, your coverage might not respond either.

The numbers show the gap: 73% of CISOs are concerned about AI agent risk, but only 30% say their safeguards are ready.

Our latest post explains why AI-induced incidents need their own category, and includes a five-point checklist to get your team ready 👇

AI-induced incidents don't fit your IR plan, your insurance policy, or your board deck. Here's why CISOs need a new category, now.

The board doesn't want to hear "we have a retainer." They want to hear "we're ready."

Are you?

Sometimes, it can be the Iranians, the Russians, or the North Koreans...and sometimes...it can be your own Security Manager.

Who doesn't like a good cyber story on a Monday morning? Yep, we didn't think so. ;)

In any case, check this story out:

A healthcare provider got an alert about a Linux machine "acting strange."

Our investigators found cryptomining malware. That part was expected.

What wasn't expected: the malware had a built-in way to spread itself to every machine one specific engineer had access to. No review step. Nobody checking the change before it went live.

The malware wasn't the real story. The access was.

Take a break from the 80s trend and dive with us to a world of hacking, cyber, and things you only see in movies.

This is a story from our series. Let us know if you'd like to read more stories like this one.

A Chinese espionage group known for years of quiet spying suddenly locked a company's servers for ransom, mid-pandemic. No custom ransomware. They just used BitLocker, the encryption tool already built into Windows.

Our investigators traced the trail through a hacked third-party vendor... and further, to a 2011 breach that exposed 35 million people's records.

Was it APT27? Winnti? Something in between?
