This greenfield site overlooking Tralee bay was an extremely sensitive location, needing careful architectural design in order to reduce the visual impact of a new building on the site.

The team at Sugrue Design have ensured that this split-level dwelling blends into the landscape, enhancing rather than detracting from the natural beauty of the hillside.

Inside, large glazed openings take in the view while natural daylight is captured throughout.

Clonmore Terrace was constructed in the 1910s on a greenfield site between what was the Fever Hospital and Prospect Lodge.

More than 100 years later the team at Sugrue Design have taken a conservation led approach towards the refurbishment of this protected structure, which has retained many of its original features.

With the help of the Conservation Advice Scheme and the Built Heritage Investment Scheme this red bricked terrace property has been carefully renovated and modernised for a new generation.

Feet up at last after another busy weekend at Architecture Kerry. Over the past 5 years we have had tours all over the county - Kilflynn, Brandon, Blennerville, Castleisland, Tralee, Killarney and Kenmare. Thanks to Kerry County Council and Architecture Kerry for organising such a wonderful event year after year and a big thank you to all the clients who have opened their homes and businesses to us over the years. It’s not easy allowing 30 strangers into your house but each year we’ve had fantastic buildings to show to the public and it wouldn’t be possible without them. Planning for 2026 begins tomorrow!

We are thrilled to share the exciting news that Planning Permission has officially been Granted for a brand new 24-bedroom apart-hotel in Tralee. Co Kerry.

These landmark buildings on Bridge Street have been an important feature on the streetscape of Tralee since the 1800s. Over the years they have evolved – changing ownership, adapting and merging – to become the Caballs and Kerry Bookshop we know today.

This proposal will allow the historic buildings to be sensitively renovated and repurposed for future generations, bringing a new lease of life to this corner of Tralee.
